Might as well make them also.

Never mind. I had it in my mind that hockey didn't play with standardized rinks.

Not true. Defense Offsides is only 5 yards. No automatic first down.

1. Holding. Why is defensive holding a 5 yard penalty and offensive holding a 10 yard penalty?

Defensive is automatic first down, which is stupid.

I wish 60+ yard field goals were worth 4 points.

That’s inaccurate and a horrible analogy. 12 men on field, encroachment, delay of game, probably some more that I’m forgetting

Offensive football penalties can't be added on to the end of the play, defensive ones can.

In the NBA, when the defense gets a penalty, the opposing offense is REQUIRED to do something they may not want to do (I.E. Shoot free throws with a certain shooter). All other sports, a foul results in a distinct advantage and most sports make it optional to take that penalty if they so choose.

By nature they wouldn’t be “added” on. They would be subtracted. But often there will be a holding call down field by a player and the penalty is assessed from spot of foul instead of line of scrimmage. Unless I’m misunderstanding you, that would be the equivalent to being “added” to the play.

I’m fine with the offside in hockey, do to speed of the game, and the short distance of the rink.

Soccer would be a better, more high scoring sport without offsides. Now I’m not gonna pretend I care about soccer, but this one adjustment might make me like it a lot more. Of course the game would change. Teams would most likely put a safety player back, that’s not the goalie. It’d still make that sport a lot more interesting too me.

- no stipend for college athletes and some amateur-eligibility rules (FALSE)

College Athlete Getting Stipends

- one-and-done in basketball

The NBA wants a better product and too many teenagers makes it less palatable to season ticket holders and the quality of play. They can change their minds any time.

- possession arrow in basketball

I love the possession arrow.

- running to first after strike 3 when pitch hits ground

I think this completes the play. Love this rule.

- NFL kickoff rules

Which rule?

NFL overtime rules

Which rule? All?

- fouling/free throw rules in the bonus...make it 1 shot + possession

I don't mind your change here.

- end zones only 10 yd deep in US football

How many yards WOULD make sense?

- hockey points for OT losses

I'm cool with this.

- soft penalties for hockey fighting

I think fighting in other sports should have softer penalties as the other leagues have gotten more physical. It blows off steam and keeps people from taking cheap shots.

- long putters in golf

What rule are you referring to about them that doesn't make any sense to you?

- stroke penalty fairness in golf

What rule makes no sense in regards to the fairness of it?

- possession rule for ball o-o-b in lacrosse

DGAF about lacrosse.

- only one foot down for legit catch in college and below

Why wouldn't that make any sense?

- ball hitting the pylon being automatic TD...pylon is o-o-b

It doesn't make any sense that the pylon is part of the plane?

- fumbling out of end zone being change-of-possession

The end zone is where a possession ends. It actually makes total sense.

- pro-wrestling...everything about it

What rule doesn't make sense though?

The rules are mostly fine but sometimes the refs seem to have a hard time enforcing all of them. Plus, I think it's the only one of these sports to have special guest referees, which seems like it could call into question the integrity of the contest.

They should be able to use their hands, too, baw. That would really increase scoring.
