The New Orleans Pelicans/Hornets immediately come to mind. They managed to squander prime CP3, Anthony Davis, and will most likely waste Zion too.

The Seattle Mariners had Ken Griffey Jr. for a decade and later had Ichiro Suzuki (also for a decade) yet still managed to never win anything

There are a lot of terrible franchises in the NFL (Browns, Lions, Bengals, Texans, just to name a few) but nobody will ever top the Buffalo Bills losing 4 Super Bowls in a row. That’s the ultimate waste of elite talent

Grant. Hill.

Full stop.

He got injured and they rushed him back which fricked up the rest of his career.

Shaq and Penny played, what, 3 years together and still made 1 finals and I believe a conference finals when they ran up against the 95-96 Bulls. Then Shaq left for LA and Penny kept getting injured, they didn't waste Shaq and Penny.

And Dwight went to a Finals as well

Good to know CP3 went on to win championships.

As far as AD is concerned, the dude led the league in PER while he was here and lost to a top 2 team ever.

Zion... they’ll probably waste Zion.

CP3 can't carry a franchise by himself, not much squandering there. The Hornets had a good run during the CP3 era. AD13 - the franchise was in shambles during that period, and there was some bad luck. That has more squander to it, but they tried and he didn't want to stay.

They had good runs in the late 90s and early 2000s - at least 2 or 3 ALCS - that's decent. Baseball is weird and the best team doesn't always win the WS.

Getting to 4 SBs in a row is harder than winning a single one. You could also argue they were only the better team in 1 out of the 4 SBs (the first one vs NYG).

Part of AD’s problem, as exposed by LeBron, is that he refused to play through minor injuries in New Orleans while he would do so in LA.

Enough of those add up to games lost that would have put him in the playoffs more often or meant better seeding the times he made it.

if he thought we could win championships here, he would have played through them. Why jeopardize yourself to win 48 instead of 45?

saying making the Super Bowl 4 times is the biggest waste of talent is the biggest waste of brain cells I've ever seen. That is one stupid take. I'd wager 20 or more NFL franchises and their fans would trade places.

So everyone but Golden State, Houston, and Cleveland should have said “frick it” in the Pels’ best season?

Because AD got broken by the Warriors beating them and couldn’t take it.

Cleveland Indians - those powerhouse teams in the 90’s should have won at least one. You had peak Thome, Manny, Alomar, Lofton, Vizquel.

What's your definition of wasted talent? Trying to surround your stars with players and not winning a championship? Might as well throw in most franchises.

Choosing a small market team that got better after gaining stars and then can't get anywhere because other stars don't want to play there isn't your answer.

Having 1 star and a bunch of scrubs isn't wasting the most talent because they never were all that talented as a whole right?

Now Houston having Watson, JJ, etcc and then trading Hopkins to go 4-12 after winning a division... That's wasting talent.

The 2012 Detroit Tigers had Justin Verlander, Max Scherzer, Rick Porcello (reliever then), Drew Smyly (reliever) and Anibal Sanchez. They also had Miguel Cabrera (won the Triple Crown that year), Austin Jackson, and Prince Fielder in their lineup. They got swept by the San Francisco Giants. In Game 1 Pablo Sandoval hit three home runs and batted .500 for the series. Granted their bullpen wasn’t great on the back end, but how they couldn’t even win one game after sweeping the Yankees is a bit baffling.
