So I guess pornstars are grossly underpaid.

When the 12th man on an NBA roster makes like $5 mill a year, I’m worried. The guy MAY play 5 mins a game but makes THAT MUCH???? That’s crazy.

Most athletes play in a salary cap league. So the argument could be made that they are paid less than their fair market value

Nope. They willingly opted into a union that negotiated for a salary cap. They can always opt out of a deal. Labor always has a cap on it’s value whether it’s explicit or implied.

Is this about TJ Watt?

Ian Rapoport

Sources: The #Steelers and star pass-rusher TJ Watt have a mega-deal. He’s going to sign a 4-year extension worth more than $112M — $28.003M average per year — with $80M fully guaranteed at signing. The highest paid defensive player in football.

I think you're the forth one that's pointed that out.

I’m really confused by this thread.

Is this a clever joke making fun of the fact you are a communist, but worship athletes? If so, Bravo.

I think they pay you too much to work at McDonald's. The damn shake machine never works.

Who do I need to talk to in order to lower your salary?

I think you are worth monetarily what the market is for your abilities whether it be your brain or your athletic talents.

However as a society, too much emphasis is placed on athletes and celebrities outside of their arena of expertise as entertainers. Their money and exposure gives them their voice and people should rarely champion them outside of their specialty.

You can still be a nobody on a 53 man roster and get millions.

The median salary for an nfl player is less than a million and the average nfl career is about 3.5 years. Thats not that much money when you consider the average guy isnt getting big endorsements and theyre still paying an agent and whatever else comes along with it.

Add in most of the guys have no education to fall back on and its not as crazy as you make it seem.

This is a weird group of athletes to go after. They don’t make THAT much and their job security is shite.

But if you’re going to criticize this, go after people’s priorities. These athletes are making a lot because they are the primary attraction in multi-billion dollar industries.

This is probably a better-worded version of what I was trying to say.
