I'd say Norton. Norton got KO'd by heavy punchers in Cooney, Shavers and Foreman. He somehow managed to do well against classic boxers but the big punchers got to him and took him out.

A lot of younger fans love to tear down athletes from the 80s and 90s. This narrative and double standard comparison for Tyson is about 15 years old and is part of that strange practice. Instead of comparing skill sets which is the norm when comparing boxers from different eras you’ll only get washed Tyson vs peak Ali. You’ll never see someone point out that Tyson KOd two guys who beat Ali because it doesn’t fit the narrative. Context is only allowed to flow one way in this narrative.

Well the context in this scenario is Ali should have never been in the ring with a 20 year old Larry Holmes (he needed the money)at age 40something… same way a 40 year Larry Holmes shouldn’t have been in the ring with a 19 year old Mike Tyson

And…?
I mean that’s why people who know boxing don’t point it out

My point in bringing those up is that talking points like that are used to dismiss actual comparisons but you’ll never see the pro Tyson talking points from the people who frame these narratives.

Straight from the man himself. Ali was one of a kind

My God, you are fricking retard. Prime Tyson beats everyone on that list. Don’t know about Ali, neither does anyone else.
And I saw Ali and the ones from the seventies fight.

And Tyson knocked his arse out, easily. He didn’t do the same against Ali.
After the Rooney split, Tyson sucked. No disputing that. Along with getting with Don King, the king of frick ups.

This is like saying the 70’s Steelers could beat the 2000’s Patriots.
Give me a fricking break.
Give me a fricking break.

Ali unless Tyson got in one solid shot.

That’s a terrible analogy.

Tyson KO'd Berbick and Holmes, 2 guys who beat an old, past his "Use By' date Ali.
That's comparing apples to oranges and it only fits your narrative.

Ali stylistically would be a nightmare for Tyson.

No it’s an example of the point I made about framing your narrative and the washed Tyson vs peak Ali double standard. You just proved the point I was making.

Any heavyweight can get taken out by another heavyweight's solid shot.
Just ask Anthony Johnson.
And most of Tyson's opponents received that " One solid shot" from him.

Can't blame the guy that he didn't fight in an era loaded with heavyweight talent.
You are correct. But you can't judge him positively against the champions of the past of the same size who fought better competition.
Like someone said earlier, he fought and handful of good boxers and lost. His best win may be Pinklon Thomas. Ali, frazier, Foreman, Lyle, Shavers Norton would all smoke Pinklon before your beer got warm.

Ali was a tactition in the ring. If he could survive Frazier he would do the same to Tyson..

REALLY prime Ali, 1966-67 Ali, would first take Tyson apart mentally and then take him apart physically.
