Ranked 13th in 2024 then went on to...

Lose to Illinois in the cheez it bowl and then talk crap about how bad the B1G is.

Are you under the impression that the players really care about bowls outside of the playoffs?

I am. But I was also a division 1 athlete so I understand how important competition is

You don't play a game and "not care". You may not treat it like the super bowl, but teams who are 6-5 going into their last game are still trying to be 7-5 not 6-6. So I would think a game go make it to 7-5 is the same importance as a game to be 8-5

When was Ole Miss or A&Ms or South Carolinas?

But they are ranked highly every year. Oh look 13 and 19 and 21 preseason.

Since when is that considered highly ranked? They would all be out of the playoffs. Penn St, who hasn't won shite ever, is ranked #2 and ahead of last years national champs. At some point they have to realize they're never going to win and quit ranking them so high. You would hope, but I doubt it.

I mean, they made the semis last year and were at least solid. I assume they have most guys back except Carter and the TE? Plus, who is gonna be any better in the B1G besides OSU and Oregon? And it's not crazy to say those two teams may take a step back from last year.

I also don't get the bitch-fest about Penn State this year. Where should they be ranked then? Which teams ranked behind them are set up to have clearly better seasons?

Besides, I thought preseason polls didn't matter anymore. Even if you move Penn State down a few spots, they will still have a very good chance of making it back to the B1G title game and getting a high playoff seed again.

There have been years where South Carolina and A&M have been top 10 and we all know it.

A&M got up to #10 last season for absolutely no reason.

A&M was ranked #6 preseason in 2021 and 2022. That is recent

In fact into the 1980s Michigan and Michigan State did not have lights. They had to use those temporary lights.

The Big House did not have permanent lights installed until 2010. That classic game vs ND in 2011 was the first night game in the big house. Of course some finished in the dark before with the temporary nights, but never an actual night game before that.

They didn't bring in temporary night lights? I find that hard to believe.

The SEC beats each other up every year. The big ten not so much.

The B1G plays 9 conference games vs 8 for the SEC so the B1G has more conference losses every year. Prior to 2024, when’s the last time at least 1 SEC team did not finish undefeated or with 1 loss? The SEC has been the best conference no one disputes that but not every team is 2019 LSU peak Bama or 2022 UGA

O wow, so combined you have a few top 10 rankings. This is South Carolinas first time being ranked pre season in over a decade.

In the past nine years, Penn St has been ranked in the top 8 five times. I'm sure you can guess how that worked out for them. It'll be the same story again this year.

1986. What does that have to do with the current team? They were in the final four last year. Where should they been ranked by your estimation? Should teams be ranked only by most recent championship?

For the 4 years not counting 2025 that they started in the top 8 they finished ranked lower 3 times:
17 Pre 6 Final 8
*20 Pre 7 Final UR (Covid year*)
23 pre 7 Final 13
24 Pre 8 Final 5

They also started 2016 and 2022 unranked and finished 7 both times. They finished unranked twice 2020-2021 both years impacted by the Covid madness. In the “normal” year’s they’ve been pretty consistently a top 10 team, certainly a deserving playoff team in the current format

LSU has been ranked in the top 10 5 of the last 10 years and only finished in the top 10 twice.

LSU is consistently overrated too, but I don't see LSU fans saying they shouldn't be in the top 10 again this season do I?

I'm sure you can guess how that worked out for them most of those years. LSU and PSU are the same the last decade except LSU had one transfer QB who worked out for them

As much as I hate them they were probably deserving in 1994.
