Thats exactly right and dixon was the heisman front runner at the time. Wild night!
Also #2 USF lost on a thursday night to rutgers. 2007 easily the most entertaining season in college football of all time.

SIAP but we used to live on Thursday nights under Spurrier.

Our Sandstorm tradition was born there in a win vs #4 Ole Miss in 2009.

That game was during my senior football season. I remember we all went to Pete’s for a team dinner and watched Dennis Dixon break his ankle and end his Heisman hopes

‘07 was probably the craziest season in history. Pat White and Steve Slaton was tearing shite up in Morgantown too

I believe that was none other than Jared Cook. Who did get a TD earlier in that game.

This was no kidding the first that popped into mind when I read your title. Having a big game on Thursday night was still a cool novelty, and having FSU play Thursday was huge. And UVA actually had a star player (Barber).

You made me doublecheck, but it was definitely a Thursday.

The Big East games will always be what sticks with me about Thursday nights. If the American wants to push this whole P6 thing they need to take over Thursday night. Do some kind of flex scheduling type deal where they get their best games on Thursday night each week.

My dad and sister went to Boston College, so I've always had a soft spot for the Eagles. When I was a freshman at Wisconsin in 2007, I watched Matt Ryan come up in the clutch to lift No. 2 BC over No. 8 Virginia Tech in Blacksburg. It was pouring rain. Such a fun game to watch.

Wasn’t the Georgia tech vs Virginia tech game where Lee Corsos car got struck by lightning on a Thursday? Also the upset of Georgia tech over Florida state on the block field goal

FSU/GT was on a Saturday and GT/VT was on a Sun or Monday night

As an LSU fan, Dennis Dixon going down opened up the door for LSU to win the title that year. But I felt so bad for Dennis, dude had the Heisman on lock and I believe they got out to an early lead in that game before he went down and then Oregon couldn't do shite the rest of the season

Yep, I was partying at the Spanish Moon that night. Good times in BR.

Badass run by Rudi. I’m getting old. That video seems ancient but I remember the run well.

West Virginia had some classics. That comeback against Lousiville to win 46-44 in 3 OT's comes to mind.came back down 3 Tds in 4th quarter. Pat White and Slaton combination was unstoppable.

2007: #2 Boston College at #8 Virginia Tech

In a torrential downpour, Virginia Tech led BC 10-0 with 2:11 left. Matt Ryan threw a perfect TD pass to cut it to 10-7. BC recovered the onside kick, drove downfield, and Ryan threw a 24 yard TD pass on 3rd and 20 with :11 left. BC won 14-10.

This was an amazing game.

Ryan's incredible game winning TD pass

Absolutely. He's always been a guy who would make some ridiculous catch only to drop the wide open one later in the game.

quote:

Newton hit seven different receivers on the night, and had a sure touchdown dropped by redshirt freshman tight end Jared Cook in the end zone on the final drive. Cook had caught his first touchdown as a Gamecock on the previous USC drive on a similar play.

I was at that game and can still remember the drop remember specifically starting to jump and celebrate a TD only for it to be dropped.

Also, I just realized from that article Muschamp was DCing for Aubbie at the time.
