It’s not comparable any more. 14 games vs. 17 games is apples to oranges.

It’s absolutely comparable because it’s still going through and NFL season undefeated. If a team did it today, obviously 17-0 would be more impressive because of the season being longer — an exact apples to more apples comparison.

How many teams have started 14-0 since the NFL went to a 16 game schedule? Isn’t it still only 3? There have been only what, 5 teams till finish a season 15-1 since the 16 team schedule was implemented?

Miami’s feat is still quite extraordinary.

So, you would prefer losing the Super Bowl than winning it?

Some strange people on this board…..

What's your point?

Undefeated is undefeated. If you wanted to argue that a team going 15-0 before losing should be looked at in the same light because they won more games to start a season than the Dolphins did, eh, maybe.

But only 1 team has started 14-0 since 1972. That 18-1 New England team was impressive, but they managed to lose to Eli Frickin Manning in the Super Bowl, and that puts them a rung below Miami (and probably the 85 Bears as well).

It’s kind of like Radical Leftists on here saying LSU and other Blue Bloods shouldn’t count Championships before 1960 because it was like Sigma Nu playing against Lambda Chi Alpha and minorities weren’t allowed. Or that Babe Ruth’s records should be questioned.
