Look! There's one!
DT hadn't played a full season yet in his career and his quarterback the year before Manning was Tebow. He was a 1st round draft pick and everyone knew of his abilities.

Manny Sanders played behind a lot of other good receivers in Pittsburgh that were more established, and yet still got better each year. BayBay Thomas was transitioning from the triple option offense at Georgia Tech and playing with Tim Tebow.
Obviously both benefitted from Peyton Manning, but he benefitted from them just as much.

quote:Awesome. Look at Decker, DT, and Sanders as a whole. They all doubled their Stats when Peyton came along. The answer lies somewhere in between. Did those guys have talent within them already? Of course. Did having Peyton manning help them greatly? Of course

Exactly.
Manning had a historically good season in 2013. Those guys no doubt put up great numbers because they had an elite quarterback. But Manning had a shite ton of weapons that season, as well. Manning stepped into a perfect fricking situation in Denver.

No one is going to point out this article is from Bleacher Report? Why would you ever link a Bleacher Report article? That is basically the same as a tabloid. It is the worst sports site in existence.

Makes sense.

I think if Denver would have Manning back, he'd come back another year. If they won't take him back, he'll basically be forced to retire. He's destined for a poor statistical season and an 8-8 record if he goes to LA or Houston.

I have a question, since you're a Broncos fan.
Do Broncos fans want Manning back? Seems like they realize that they don't really need him. But I remember the obsession they had for Tebow, so maybe it's the same for Manning? Or are some kind of annoyed that the Manning storyline is kind of overshadowing the title itself?

I hate bleacher report. My god

I'd love for him to come back if he can contribute, but I don't think he can...I don't think any Denver fans think he can at this point. He shouldn't get a free ride and hurt the team just because of who he is. JMO.

NFL coaches learn how to neutralize opposing QB's at a much higher rate than young QB's develop into winning QB's. It's no accident that RGIII and Kaepernick have been rendered largely ineffective since opposing defenses adjusted to take away some of their strengths. People are even questioning whether Andrew Luck has not regressed due to defensive adjustments. So there is pretty significant risk for the Broncos putting all of their eggs in the Osweiler basket.

The only team that makes sense would be the Rams if they wanted to throw him a ton of money to use his name promoting the new team. Stranger things have happened and even Archie had a fling with the Oilers at the end of his career.
Or maybe Peyton will be one of those guys like Favre that just cant give up the game and will have to be carried out on his shield.
Either way....

How is this a dumb move by Elway? If their defense doesn't launch itself into the stratosphere those last two games, they don't win the SB. Peyton was not even an average QB this year.

Peyton has been terrible since halfway thru last season. No reason for him to come back at all. Finish your career on the highest note and sit back and wait for your name to be called for HOF.

Why should the broncos shell out big money to keep osweiler? If you can win a super bowl with manning looking like an 86 year old, wouldn't you rather just get a rookie/vet combo instead of locking yourself into a guy that was up and down at best this season?

Peyton needs to let it go and get out while he's still in good health and and his brain is not scrambled goo.
There's nothing left for him to prove and you could see that he had almost nothing left in his arm the last three games.

look to trade Manning for a high draft pick this year.
Candidates: Cleveland, Tampa Bay, San Francisco?

We need to resign Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan, Brandon Marshall and Von Miller so we can franchise tag Brock Osweiler. Malik Jackson will probably walk and get paid big money, and Von Miller will likely get the franchise tag. Brandon Marshall and Danny Trevathan are immensely underrated middle linebackers and I really want them back. David Bruton is another guy I would like to see resigned.
Solid post and as a Bronco fan, agree completely. Manning will retire, there's no way he's signing with a different team and starting the process of getting acclimated all over again. Any team signing him would be dumb considering his production this season. Osweiller will be an improvement over 2015 Manning tenfold after getting the experience needed as a starter, and assuming Denver can hold on to the major pieces of the defense they should be right back to the SB next season.
I always take reports of players and coaches etc, not getting along with a grain of salt anyway. They could've had a small disagreement and it gets blown out of proportion through word of mouth, a million different things could've happened.

Manning's regular season was the worst in history for a SB qb....9 tds, 17 ints...he was worse than Dilfer.
Just retire already...especially now with the lawsuit...any team that signs Manning is going to have to deal with that circus and questions by ESPN.
