I hope the NFL survives this blow.

I’ll give the man credit. I’ve never been a fan, but a lot of other talented sportswriters have been forced into early retirement, or had to constantly jump from one fledgling outlet to another to stay employed.

Peter King was employed by SI for 30 years before finishing his career at NBC. He turned a local friendship with Bill Parcells into a 35 year career on the national stage.

His last column is a doozy. Starting with Parcells, his career was built on dropping names, and he doesn’t disappoint on his way out the door. He also manages to cover everything from Ivy League basketball to his opinions on the fentanyl crisis.

He’s a prime example of someone who’s own hubris and unwillingness to separate his job from his politics, destroyed my respect and regard for his talents.

His columns during Trump's presidency, covid and summer of love were 100% democraticunderground.com stuff.

He had a lot of insite in the early years but the twitter age made him irrelevant. Imo

We'll need to find another source for how pretentious people like their coffee.

I think back to sitting in a New Jersey movie theater around Christmas in 1992. Ann and I were there to see “A Few Good Men” (Tom Cruise, Jack Nicholson, Demi Moore), and in the middle of the movie, when things were getting heavy in a Marine murder case, Cruise drove up to a newsstand and picked up the Sports Illustrated from Aug. 12, 1991. Eric Dickerson on the cover, as a Colt. My cover. My story. And here Tom Cruise examined it and bought it, and boy, it was all I could do to not yell in the theater, “Hey, that’s my cover!”

I haven't read him in 20 years but I echo your sentiment.

I think him and Keith Olbermann should buy a house together in Venezuela...

There they can drink TDS coffee and continue to resist.

I’m sure he’ll get replaced with some other person that’s more woke than him.

He always sucked. I used to read SI for Dr Z and every once and a while would read him too and remember why I didn't read him.

Ghost, I know you quoted this part to shite on King, but I’d feel the exact same way and would probably be an insufferable prick for a few weeks after, pointing it out to an ever dwindling group of friends that tolerated me.

He did insert a Kaepernick presence in his farewell article.

At least he never wavered from being garbage.
