Paterno did absolutely nothing wrong. Nothing.

You probably think David Koresh and Jim Jones were swell guys too.

Everyone has to look up to someone, I suppose.

He took over a program that suffered arguably the most embarrassing scandal in history, rebuilt it amidst sanctions harsher than anything faced since SMU, and made the national semifinal.
That’s cute. Though O’Brien took the brunt of the Paterno consequences

Doesn’t have anything to do with how his team quit on him in 2025 and there was no realistic coming back from it. So yes, lost control

The boosters were also over his tenure. Enough of the NIL money says “it’s time” and that’s it. There isn’t an argument at that point to be held

Penn State fricked up the process to replace him but they correctly read the writing on the wall

Franklin to Campbell was probably not what they had in mind when they fired Franklin.

They wanted the BYU coach, then Cignetti, then settled on Campbell.

So even though the person that committed the crimes is in jail and the people covered up for him are dead and or went to jail and are all long gone, the institution and people there now that had nothing but o do with it should be punished?

You think their sanctions and reputation were easy to bounce back from? O’Brien had a cup of coffee there and left a bare cabinet.

They lost games so they quit? lol.

Their boosters and fans are the problem. They think they’re a lot bigger than they are.

The AD and Franklin bumped heads and the AD proved himself a little bitch with his recorded address to the team after he realized nobody they wanted to hire wanted the job because they just fired a coach that dug them out of a major hole the year after he got them farther than they’d been since the Kerry Collins era. Nobody with options is going to a place like that.

In general yes

However Campbell was a terrible hire and clearly not cut out for Penn state

I have stated this a few time on here...

As a VT fan, we cannot be more happy...oh no, he loses the big games, well we just want to be in the big games again. He already has VT back recruiting at the peak of Beamer.

Secondly, he has already came in and started renovating parts of the buildings, locker rooms, etc...ie, taking us from the mid 2000s to modern program.

As for this year, if he wins 7 games with this roster he will have had a great year. VT had layers of crap coming in, our best players from the terrible teams are at Alabama and UCLA now. He could not turn over the whole roster. Lots of young guys, take the bumps and move on.

Secondly, if he wins 10 games a year, he will have a statue like Beamer in Blacksburg.

VT knows we are not Ohio St, Alabma, LSU, etc...so we do not get pitch forks out for bad losses.

Correct. Most of Pedo State still views Joe Paterno as a great person. For that, they deserve every bad thing that comes their way in this life.

They screwed up the search and ended up hiring him after the portal had closed. Most of us knew this season was a throw away.

Was coming to post this. It's amazing how long it took to hire him. Im sure this wasn't what they were expecting but let's see how he does in the portal.

Yep, PSU Waited way too late in the cycle to hire Campbell. At that point it was too late to build a decent class from the portal.

The last few coaching cycles have shown you need to have your guy lined up before hiring someone. Several teams ended up worse off after being unable to hire their top choices.

Yep

LSU got it right this time. Had Kiffin in bag for months

His last 3 full seasons were 10-2, 10-2, and 11-1 in the regular season. Including winning 2 CFP games and making the semi-finals in 2024.

I get wanting to get over the hump to play for a natty, but that was PSU’s best 3 year run in 30 years and they still fired him
