An NCAA expert even weighed in on this and said that they are really reaching into unconstitutional territory here.

His opinion. Like all laws in the judicial system and the NCAA they are open to interpretation. The Next expert in line can interpret them differently.

The job of prosecuting and punishing the men who facilitated this is for the police, not the NCAA.

The job of the NCAA is ensure compliance for all agreed upon rules and by-laws. It is also the agreed upon organization given power by member institutions, to punish when infractions occur.

Article 2.4 is established on an institution-to-institution basis.

By not reporting the rapes to police, Penn State got to keep their Defensive Cordinator. Also, the revelation would severely damage their recruiting top prospects.

The purpose of not reporting these incidents was to win more football games and not rock the boat.

You are about to ruin the lives of quite a few people just to make yourself feel better. That's not life, my friend, that's sadism.

First of all, im not about to do anything but the NCAA is. Secondly, you make this out to be as if the NCAA is looking to ruin a few peoples lives. The NCAA isn't Dr. Claw rubbing a white cat looking to destroy people. They have to uphold a moral code that has been broken. Didn't Patrino get canned after he broke a moral code. And before you say it, no the NCAA didn't punish Arky because Arky administrators didn't cover it up and they fired him.

That's a very broad and open-ended power. Anyone can interpret that any way they would like.

Well this situation is pretty clear-cut for anybody with a sense of morals.

How would PSU have survived when they weren't a football power?

I think people give too much credit to FB programs for the success of an areas economy. If the fb team recieved the death penalty then it would impact the community economically but it wouldn't be the end of State College, Pa.

Death penalty will NEVER be imposed by the NCAA again IMO. So if the town still hosts fb games the impact will be minimal. Now maybe the impact will come with merchandise bc PSU fans are ashamed by the scandal.

OK, I just read it. I didn't see any current football players named. Did I miss one?

Use ESPN and lynch mob talking points

Considering I now live in Europe and don't have access to ESPN I guess I just used my fricking educated brain to come up with that.

BTW...did you actually have a point besides insulting me?

They didn't break a moral or ethical code, they committed a felony.

Most of them time when people commit felonies, it's also a moral or ethical code. Covering up child molestation violates 99.9% of people's moral and ethical codes.

Serious question, isn't that only considered as multiple/repeat direct violations?

No, repeat offender status leads to more severe penalties...but LOIC can be cited upon an original investigation.

Nope. This is making an example a program who actively covered up child abuse in order to continue to win games. The hammer is about to drop. Deal with it.

No. That's why they get off scot-free.

ETA: But let me guess, in your mind they're being punished because they have to go through the absolute horror of transferring, playing football, and getting a full-ride free education at a place where child rape isn't condoned.

What punishment has the NCAA ever handed out that you thought was ok?

You must have missed the "no transfer penalty" part.
