Probably the most shocking firing in a long time. Do they have cause or are they really going to eat 48 mil buyout?

Franklin would be a great fit at Va tech honestly. Get them back to 9 wins a season annually.

Went from #2 to fired in the span of 3 games. Absolutely wild

Franklin probably gets another job quick mitigating buyout somewhat

This just makes no sense.

They're going to pay $100M or so to get 4-5 years from Cignetti?

Except Nebraska had decades of dominance. Pedo State had a few good years in the 80s and all of tbat is covered up by child rape.

Wonder how he plays this. They were pretty down and out and he got them back. Kinda shitty to only get 6 games of rope after their best finish in 30 years.

I agree. I frankly think he’s the best Penn State can hope for. They’re a win a shite ton of games but never win a national championship type of program. This is who they are. The odds of them cracking that glass ceiling compared to falling into more mediocrity is really not good. They’re much more likely to squeak out a championship in the 12 team era under Franklin.

Even Jo Pa only won like 2 titles and were they shared? 400+ wins and 40+ years and could only win 2 big ones. And haven’t for near or over 40 years now. They just aren’t an Alabama or Ohio state. They aren’t even Texas who is marginally more frequent in their championships.

You don’t make this move without a target already lined up. I wonder who they’re going after.

Wow, that’s a shocker. Auburn next coach. How about Florida? He will get a Power job.

I definitely think he deserved a little more leeway, but sometimes the tide turns very fast in general perception.

I don't know what they were ranked to start the season, but it was pretty high. You have a 5-star returning QB, and you lose to a horrific UCLA team, and a whatever Northwestern team, you are playing with fire. If they had started the season without huge expectations, I think he survives.
