Don't get this for either team. Pats should be in win now mode and Browns in rebuild and add/stock picks mode
I think this is actually a pretty solid move for Cleveland. They have a ton of picks already stocked up. They also have a shite ton of cap room next season (at least 50 million right now with some work to be done w/ vets). Collins was never going to re-sign in NE, he is asking for too much money. Now the Browns get a short 8 game rental where they can see if he is worth the money before they give him a deal. This is better than just giving him a deal in FA where everything is uncertain. If he plays extremely well in their system then he is worth the 3rd round pick they will have given up.
I don't really get the move for the Pats, though. There is some people saying on twitter that they are in love with no-name LB they have and that is why they made the move. It's just weird when they're 7-1 to trade away a key cog.

But the Patriots are the kind of team that would reject a 2nd round pick from the Broncos so that he'd be stuck in Cleveland. That's the price for questioning The Patriot Way.

I am beyond mad. It wasn't even their 3rd round pick, it's a compensation pick for someone leaving.
Collins better have done something beyond idiotic.

And no way in hell should they give up a 2nd for a guy who will be a FA in a year and half.
Or maybe I'm selling them short and they'd wait for him to be a FA, and overpay tremendously for him.

Everything I've read is that Collins was being a shite head about his contract and free roaming in the defense and causing issues in the locker room
Belicheck was pissed at the defenses performance all season and wanted to send a message to everyone in there to shape up or ship out and so that's why he's gone.
That's atleast the side of it I'm seeing on twitter. I still don't like it. There are times where he looks like the best linebacker in the league.

Well at least his binky Freeny is injured. Roberts has looked good, but there's a lot of Bob Sanders in him.

Kyle van noy is another option. Just got him from Detroit last week.

Collins has been shaky ever since last year's AFC title game... He got smoked on both TDs to Denver's TE.
He's been in a funk or in the doghouse since then, you could tell NE wasnt going to re-sign him, he's basically disappeared this season. Hightower and Butler will now be the priorities.
I wouldn't doubt if you see an extension for one or both coming very soon.

Normally the Patriots are solid in transactions but this seems bizarre. Collins must of had some internal issue other than money.
The Patriots had the questionable Logan Mankins trade previously too that cost them - maybe they are trying to be too smart for their own good.

wonder if it makes them look dumb like Chandler Jones has been

Word is, is that Collins' camp had already told NE what he wanted and they thought it was too much. He wouldn't go down and they told him to frick off.
I know the dude isn't a chump, but he's also no Von Miller. Him and his agent are delusional if that's the case.

Kinda blow some my mind but I'm thinking Hoodie had his fill and said GTFO. These moves irk me but I have to remember that this guy has kept the Pats in TRUE title contention on a yearly basis. I was hoping they'd sell out this year but it's hard to argue with what they get accomplished every year.

Don't worry, after the 10th game Chandler won't do anything.
Posted on 10/31/16 at 1:09 pm to Lester Earl
There was a 0.00000 chance that Jones was resigning with the Pats, getting a 2nd round pick out of him is pretty decent return for a guy on his last year of his deal

Is Collins the OLB they use for everything? He is from Southern correct?
Posted on 10/31/16 at 1:15 pm to Jcorye1
when you cant rush the passer come playoff time, you might think differently
Posted on 10/31/16 at 1:16 pm to wildtigercat93
That is Southern. I forget most people are from Louisiana and think Southern in BR automatically on here.

You say that. But he's gone before noon on Monday after pissing them off on Sunday. They went to Cleveland and said "here, take him."
You don't think that if teams knew Collins was on the market that there would have been a bidding war? Contenders like Oakland, Atlanta, Dallas, Green Bay, etc. would have given up something more if they thought he'd fit their scheme? They could have probably talked the Saints into a first round pick if the Saints got something like a 3rd in return. But they didn't piddle around. This is a "we want him gone yesterday" move.
