I'll try to dig it up. It's buried in the Urban Meyer thread on an Ohio State board that has grown by a couple of hundred pages in the last week.

Good luck finding it. A google search returned nothing on it and it hasn’t been mentioned in any news article on any site I’ve seen this far

But the investigation?

And the investigation I presume. There was going to be an investigation once the allegation was made (IMO).

Sorry. Here it is. He represented Zach Smith in 2015. He was the attorney who represented Ohio State in Tatgate.

quote:

The Columbus attorney who represented Zach Smith in the 2015 matter said he did not share details of the allegation with Urban Meyer or other OSU officials. Larry James said it would have been a breach of attorney-client privilege to do so.

“Do I have any reason to believe that the university or coach would have known of that situation? The answer is no,” James said.

And even if he did nothing wrong legally, there is still the whole idea that he allowed a known wife beater to stay on staff, and only fired the guy when the public found out.

I really don't see the problem. The woman allowed a known wife beater to stay in her marriage and around her kids. The police allowed a known wife beater to stay on the streets. The judicial system allowed a known wife beater to come within a radius of this woman.

How in the world do y'all jump to termination of his employment as a logical remedy? Do y'all think the Detroit violent crime problem will be fixed if unemployment just goes UP? I just see absolutely no failure to protect this woman from Urban. She is certainly no less likely to get beaten if her husband is unemployed. All it does is take away her and her kids' income.

Putting your hate for OSU football and Urban aside, does anybody really think that there are battered women just praying for their husband to get fired to bring an end to their suffering? I don't even understand the mechanism of how that works.

You would say stuff like this

Urban Meyer's Contract

See Article 1.5 and 5.1 Section o of Meyer's OSU contract, you're welcome

I think you may be confused. I said “Courtney Smith stated no one from the University has ever spoken with her regarding the incident.” I believe that if there was an investigation in 2015 (as there would be if Urban told his superiors) there would be a paper trail and the investigators would have spoken with her. You said that was false and it was “documented” she spoke with investigators.

You then linked a quote from Zach Smith’s personal attorney in 2015. Not someone involved with the university or school investigation into the domestic violence allegations. Just because he was involved with tatgate doesn’t make him an investigator for the school in the assault allegation. He even specifically says in the article you linked that he didn’t tell the school anything...

What he said is spot on though

People are masking behind "caring about domestic violence" in order to satisfy their blood lust for going after Urban

As I have said in the past, Meyer could have easily found him a job elsewhere. I never said he had to fire him. But there is no way in hell someone like a coach at a place like tOSU should have someone that beats their wife on staff. Its a time bomb waiting to go off, and guess what? It did.

Additionally, the idea that this was hidden for 8 years or however long he worked for Meyer is laughable. Not when he was arrested for beating his pregnant wife in 2009. The guy is likely a huge A hole.

Again, if your wife is scared of the guy you know. Again, if the police were called out once they were likely called multiple times. Meyer likely knew every single time, you really think the Police Captain didn't know Meyer due to all his players?

Wouldn't this be an easy matter to sort out?

It will take a few days to talk to all the involved parties, who Meyer did or didn't report to, etc., and accumulate relevant documents, emails, etc.

why would they bother putting him on leave?

Is this for show?

Very possibly. Gives a perception that they're taking it seriously.

So...based on what local radio hosts who have been inside the football facilities, all the Meyer executioners are going to be sorely disappointed. They are saying Meyer will be on the field by 9/1, and there is a lot of really good stuff he has in his back pocket that puts him apparently in an even better light.

Again, I will wait for facts to come out, and OSU is taking their time to make sure they have their ducks in a row

I don't hate OSU or Urban Meyer... But what he did is/was wrong.... Sure he told whoever... BUT he still covered up bt letting A wife beater stay on his staff.... And kept it A secret... YES he could have done more, but chose not to,,, IF OSU dpesnt fire him all they care about is winning at all cost... But now that its gonna take 14 days to complete the investigation I really don't see him fired... Maybe A two game suspension..........

But he didn’t say he told them in 2015 he said “I followed proper protocols... and I did so regarding the 2015 incident.” But he didn’t fire him until July 23rd, 2018. So at the very least he kept a coach twice accused of domestic violence on staff for 3 years.

Following proper protocol would mean reporting promptly. He wasn't fired until recently because she just got the order of protection.

I agree, I don't care about him either way. I just find it sketchy as hell he'd lie like he did at the presser and then they put him on leave.

Why do all that? Maybe I'm a terrible friend, but if my best friend was fired for what has come out with the Smith family I would not have lied nor needed to lie.

If this was simply a family matter that needed time and no one knew about, why did tOSU need even 14 days to discuss? Meet with Meyer, Meet with Courtney Smith, meet with 5 other people and wrap up the damn investigation in 2 days.
