OSU sets timetable for Meyer investigation

I've asked this a few times, but if Urb had informed the school about the allegations, why would they bother putting him on leave? Wouldn't this be an easy matter to sort out?
Is this for show?

Ohio State has laid out details for its investigation into Urban Meyer’s knowledge of the domestic abuse allegations against former Buckeyes wideouts coach Zach Smith.
First, the investigation will be headed by Mary Jo White, of the national law firm Debevoise & Plimpton. White is a former federal prosecutor and former chairwoman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange. Ohio State previously announced the investigation will be overseen by 6-person panel, with three members on Ohio State’s board of trustees and three from outside the university.
“Ohio State is committed to a thorough and complete investigation,” committee chairwoman Jo Ann Davidson, a former Ohio House Speaker. “We look forward to sharing the results of this investigation and any action the university may take.”
Additionally, the school announced the investigation will end within 14 days.
Ohio State president Michael Drake, in conjunction with Ohio State’s trustees, will make a decision once the investigation issues its report.
Meyer has been on leave since Wednesday. On Friday, he issued a statement claiming he followed proper university protocol once informed of the allegations against Smith in 2015.

Saints fans are very familiar with Mary Jo White. Uh ohhhh

I’m quite floored the university decided 3 people from their own Board of Trustees would help oversee this investigation, raises the specter of conflict of interest from an outside perspective I mean are we really to believe an investigation oversight of a University half-consisting of THAT SAME UNIVERSITY’S trustee members will be pure, objective and incorruptible? I’m no schmuck this ensures to be interesting at many levels.

It's hilarious that White has carved out this career as an investigator for sports scandals when she's proven to be completely biased and uncredible.
Any chance of the truth being produce flew out the window.
Basically, now it comes down to this - does OSU want Meyer to stay or go? Because she'll make up whatever narrative her bosses are paying.

That chance of truth flew out the moment OSU appointed 3 of their own trustees to the investigative panel, conflict of interest much? Lol

From the context of the reporting
That "will be" implies it has not started yet and
within 14 days of this report or within 14 days of the actual investigation beginning? This is not clear.
I do suspect we'll know something prior to game 1, though.

Is it an uh ohhhh for OSU, though. It seems that, in terms of the Saints investigation, she found exactly what the people paying her wanted her to find. Maybe that was just coincidental?

The decisions moving forward will be made by the board/University President anyway.

Only 14 days? A clear signal that they intend to find nothing...

Idk, why would it take 14 days to prove Urban reported it?
It's crazy to me they're going to let Urban dangle in the wind on this paid leave when he clearly passed the buck in his statement.

The complete lack of independent objectivity im reading here from Buckeye people is simply appalling if I was Clay Travis and this was Twitter I would block the shite out of you people for saying shite so inane, basically YOUR SCHOOL IS INVESTIGATING ITSELF WITH TITLE IX IMPLICATIONS PRESENT and y’all are jumping through hoops to justify it as pure and free of any potential COI, USE YOUR BRAIN

quote:OK. Displaced is largely trolling, but it’s hard for fans to be objective. I’m surely not which is why I’ve barely posted on it.

I think it’s a legit investigation, they’re just not being honest about what the target of the investigation actually is.
They want to keep Urban, but they need to know what the blowback will be. I’m certain the administration knows what happened and who knew what when, but they’re trying to figure out if the truth makes keeping Urban untenable.
EDIT: just my $0.02

quote:I wonder if there is a PR aspect to it. Matt Hayes was tweeting that Urban, Gene Smith (AD), and Michael Drake (President), all need fired based on limited information, especially nothing related to Drake. And he’s supposed to be a journalist, not some random person.
Idk, why would it take 14 days to prove Urban reported it?

I think he's trying to out troll Displaced Buckeye.
Very difficult to do.
