If they can, then you will start having 25 year olds playing high school sports or, even worse, Little League baseball.
You would also have players say they want to play football at school A, but want to attend School B at the same time because their girlfriend goes there or something stupid like that.
The courts can absolutely rule that colleges cannot keep students (whether athlete or not) from transferring, but they cannot force the school to allow the student to play any sport they choose if they fail to meet guidelines.
The courts will eventually rule that athletic organizations will be allowed to place restrictions on the access to playing sports as long as it is not based on something irrelevant such as race. This ruling will also prevent males from competing in women's sports.
It is just a matter of time until some actual adults with some common sense straighten this shite out.
All of the above is, of course, JMO.

The “sport” of college football is also a jillion dollar business and is subject to the same laws and rules as any other jillion dollar business.
Fans like to pull out the “it’s an amateur sport” argument when it suits their purposes.
But you know what the biggest deal is? College football fans have always thought they had an actual, legitimate, tangible ownership stake in and measure of control of the sport and are learning they never really did have it and never will have it, whether they “pay the bills” or not.

No one is forcing the schools to do anything. The schools that matter are in favor of nil and free transfer rules. The schools would probably sue the ncaa to block them from trying to re enact transfer restrictions.

Are they going to go make millions a year selling insurance? There’s only so many NFL jobs.

End it all, fire all the ADs and AD employees and go back to club sports.

That is beyond laughable. 99.9% of coaches hate it.
The schools, for the most part, hate NIL and the transfer rules. They are only allowing such because the weak NCAA refuses to enforce rules/guidelines regarding both of those.

“Oregon signee”. I guess actually being signed doesn’t mean anything anymore.
Now signings don't mean anything.
I used to love following recruiting but it's a waste of time now.

Need to sit a year so they can work on their classes and have time to get all their credits transferred. Hopefully the school they go to has similar programs so they don’t have to retake classes.
Oh wait…

You have no fricking clue lmao

You have no fricking clue lmao
Are you really that fricking stupid that you think that the schools actually LIKE having to deal with NIL and no transfer restrictions? Don't bother to answer because the question is rhetorical. You obviously have LESS THAN NO fricking clue.
Again, 99% of college athletic departments absolutely DESPISE NIL and unlimited transfers...only a moron would think otherwise.
You appear to be one of the dumbest idiots on this board....and that is one hell of an accomplishment.
Done with you chump...

The NCAA is not enforcing the rules because federal courts who have the ultimate power have ruled that the rules violate federal antitrust law and cannot and should not be enforced. Which was always going to be the end game here once this became a zillion dollar business not a sport.
And the people who are most upset about this are old school fans who don’t get a vote and are butt hurt that their naive illusions that they actually had any type of ownership stake or controlling interest in this stuff are just that, illusions.

This shite is wild. They need to make them sit a year if they haven’t even been on the team yet.
Purely on the academic side, high school seniors change schools at the finish line all the time. Do you really think this is just athletes?

Allowing 17 year old kids asking for 7 figures is the dumbest thing this country has probably ever allowed.

How can anyone get excited about any of these kids

Yea just like the big 4* D-lineman out of Mississippi that just committed to LSU a couple days ago. 5 or 6 years ago I’d be stoked about that. Now I’m not even excited at all because I’m just waiting on the announcement that he’s decommitting and wants us to respect his decision. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when unfortunately.

Agreed. We should cap CEO pay too!!!!
