My family (save for one cousin) are Penn State fans.
I have no sympathy. Especially after the way they treated Paterno like an infallible deity.

That football program should've been destroyed until they can't compete with LA Tech for the Sandusky stuff. Should've been the worst punishment ever handed down that had a 25 year impact.

That program should’ve have been punished so severely that they would have no chance at football success for 50 years.
I’ve changed my tune. I gotta disagree. frick anybody who was part of the problem, and frick the people that defended the culture.
I don’t think that the guys that laid the foundation for the program and were innocent should have their Alma mater essentially destroyed.
Think if you killed the LSU program. All money that went to the stadium, training facilities, etc is essentially a waste. You force current players to continue their education somewhere else. Tailgating dies, and so does anybody who makes a living in that department. Stands begin to empty, money doesn’t come in, and it begins to impact non-revenue sports. Donors that funded the program, and other projects associated with the school will take their dollars elsewhere. HS athletes will leave the state in droves, continuing a trend seen in other walks of life.
As terrible as the Penn State scandal was, tar and feather those involved. What sense does it make to punish innocent people in 2012 and onward for something that happened years, even decades, prior?

Given your stance on Penn St shouldn’t the Catholic Church be banished from existence?
I was gonna say that you’ll have people argue this point, but I’m late…looks like someone already did

Seconded.

You’re really comparing a football program to the Catholic Church?
You’re right it’s a terribly unfair comparison. The football program in question had 1 guy that molested children that was covered up by a few people
The Catholic Church had literally thousands of priests molesting kids covered up by the church for decades. the initial investigation by the Boston Globe found 250 in just Boston. It was known by officials in the Church for decades. Sandusky is nothing compared to that.

They shouldn't even have a football program

Nah. frick Pedo State and their douchebag fans

Feel sorry for a fan base that defended horrible coaches that ruined kids lives??? WTF is wrong with you?
Posted on 10/4/25 at 7:53 pm to UncleLester
You are sick and woefully uninformed.

Read court transcripts. Read depositions. Then let’s talk.
Remember the Amiraults. Gerald Amirault was arrested in September 1984 on charges of sexually abusing a child at his family's day care facility, which promptly had its license to operate suspended by the state of Massachusetts. His mother and sister, Violet Amirault and Cheryl Amirault LeFave, respectively, were also later arrested.
Time in jail. Exonerated years later. Thank you Dorothy Rabinowitz of the WSJ when that rag used to do investigative reporting.
Total miscarriage of justice.
See any judicial injustices and abuse of government power lately?

For starters you are grossly over exaggerating how many people knew. We know a couple for sure and those guys were charged and sent to jail. Paterno probably knew or maybe was willfully ignorant but should have. I’m not aware of any actual evidence he actively covered it up, but he was in charge and should bear responsibility. To say that everyone associated with just the FB program let alone the Athletic Department or the entire university is just stupid. If you'd stop giving to a university that does after all educate Thousands of people and does all Kinds of research over something done by 1 FB coach you have warped priorities

And then each Fall for this last 11 years, you have to believe that James Franklin is going to finally lead you to big wins. Real shame for those fans and friends of the Program.
No frick them and anytime who supports the athletic department there. The entire football program should have gotten the death penalty, both the program and the actual death penalty for JoePa, Sandusky, the AD, and everyone else involved in the cover up.
Posted on 10/4/25 at 9:10 pm to UncleLester
Even without JoePa covering up for the child rapist, he was one of the biggest hypocrites in college football. Penn State was losing some of its luster in the late 80s/early 90s so what did he do? Bring in some of the thug and criminal element he turned his nose up about other schools. That 94 team was not a bunch of studious straight arrows.
