I bet if she got lit up on the return coverage we'd hear nothing but how violent this sport is and we need to change it to make it more inclusive.

I believe it was absolutely a pr move and that's why I think it deserves harsh criticism. It was disingenuous to that young lady, the rest of the team and all the other women that are putting this on a pedestal as some "historic" event. History is usually made unexpectedly not a planned event where the rules are set beforehand. If she had kicked a 40 years field goal or a FG or xp that won the game then I'd give them credit but that's not at all what happened. She was given a layup in the name of "social justice".
What let's you know that it's a farce, if Vandy had won the game the headlines still would've been how a girl kicked a ball 35 yards down the field. Everyone involved should be ashamed and feel embarrassed for putting the rest of the team in a spot where nothing they did even mattered. Those kids have put in work for years to get where they are and letting a girl squib a kick after a short time practicing for it belittles all the pain, effort and dedication the rest of the team has put in to allow her and the school to gain the praise of an inconsequential "achievement". The entire charade is on par with Drew Brees pandering after being criticized for his actual beliefs. Purely pr.

Clearly it was a PR stunt but a completely harmless one. Not surprising it gets knuckle dragged Clay Travis bent out of shape

The squib was the result because that’s all she could do. It wasn’t like she could kick it deep and they opted for the squib.

People seem to fail to understand this. They say she just executed the coaches call.

Ignoring that it was his call because that’s the extent that she could kick it.

This and minimizing the chance that she would have to take on a blocker.

It was for sure only about the publicity, but they said school had let out already so no one was on campus for tryouts except other athletes FWIW.

I faintly remember Mo Isom doing this but also faintly remember her kicking actual FGs in the mid 30s range.

I've read that this came down from the liberal female AD at Vandy. This makes the most sense to me.

And the players we're very happy about it.

So he's a knuckle dragger because he criticized this BS PR stunt...

I thought it was fricking hilarious the way the announcers were fawning all over her. You know they got their barking orders from the network...

Personally, If I were her, I'd be embarrassed if I were in her position...

It’s funny watching people paid to post SJW nonsense coming here to defend this ridiculous situation.

Is it clear to you now? Because yesterday it was maybe.

Still waiting for you an explanation of why you keep feeling the need to point this out as harmless while whining about people harmlessly talking about this thing the media clearly wants them to talk about.

This is the part where we again point out you getting bent out of shape over other people getting bent out of shape.

And the fact that they let her address the team at halftime is comical and a slap in the face to the real football players.

Jesus. that is just way over the top.

"if a girl like me can accomplish this, then we can come back and win this game!"

I will say, it was pretty embarrassing all these post game interviews he was giving about this considering his team had just been destroyed.

Serious question to those in the know but how would this person measure up to what Mo Isom did a few years ago.

Obviously Les would’ve NEVER put her out there on a KO bc that would just be dangerous (and this was extremely dangerous even though it was pretty clear she was told not to even attempt to engage) but could Mo have hit a 30yd FG if necessary?

Not base don the kicks I saw But based on what I saw of fuller, she would likely be worse than Isom.

quote:

ESPN reporter Courtney Cronin jumped on a Zoom call to chat with Fuller about her time on the Vandy football team and that’s when we learned that Fuller was given the floor to address her fellow football players.

quote:

“If I’m going to be honest, I was a little pissed off at how quiet everybody was on the sideline,” Fuller told Cronin. “We made a first down, and I was the only one cheering and I was like – what the heck? What’s going on? And I tried to get them pumped up, and I was like, ‘You guys need to start [cheering] your team on.’

quote:

“I hope I gained their respect. It wasn’t ill-intentioned at all, I just want this team to succeed and do well,” Fuller told Cronin. “I’m a Vanderbilt student-athlete. I want all our sports to succeed. I call it how I see it, and I’m not going to BS anybody. Didn’t want to BS them.”

Got to hand it to Clay. He found his audience and he sure knows exactly what to say to make them loyal followers.

He’s the conservative Dan Wolken.

This is actually a pretty funny insight to the differences in men’s and women’s bench culture. Girls Don’t shut up the entire game.

Thank God Missouri didn't allow them to score. Imagine she hits the Extra point, or chip shot FG.
