The move was based on money alone. It was a dumb move. The little extra gate money doesn't mean anything if you can't get past the first round of the playoffs. I basically predicted this would happen based off of last time Evangel was 5A. Oh well, hope they enjoy their one and dones, it certainly wasn't a move designed to help the kids.

I cannot speak for airline because i havent seen them play.

The airline, byrd, shreve, haughton district is loaded too.

Id just like to also say St. Pauls will lose tonight. Frick them.

No reason to hate on St. Paul's in baseball. If you couldn't get anything done in that weak district it is your own fault.

Solid and put pressure on the other team. Not going to beat themselves, but definitely going to put pressure on you to beat them. I could easily see them coming out of that side of the bracket. Then again, I only saw them with their ace on the mound. Maybe they're not deep.

Airline beat us in yalls tournament 4-1 early in March... losses are twice to Lafayette, once to Sam Houston, and getting run ruled by Captain Shreve

i am at a loss how the Northshore district is a nonfactor more often than not... Pearl River or Franklinton might win it

the move was based on saving the LHSAA my man, not money.

the hangover effect from forcing JC and ECA down to 1a and 2a respectively and later even 3a was/is a root problem of the LHSAA right now - like it or not.
ya'll needed to be at 4a or 5a.

Those poor kids at John Curtis getting beat in the first round of the playoffs. It really is a tragedy. Why can't they just play in 2A/4A where they can advance to the Superdome 20 straight seasons, and win 3 out of every 4 state championships? Who cares about the kids at the other schools, let them eat cake.

ST Michael is on the same side as STM so they'll probably lose to them like they do in every fricking sport

Holy cow. Curtis WON the Catholic League in baseball. Doing that and gaining respect for playing at the highest level is far better for the kids than winning low level titles when you're far out recruiting the opposition.

They had a bad 7 inning game that was a one off. So did Sulphur. More 5A upsets are coming today. The sad part is they only have two rounds oF 3-game series.

How did they win the Catholic League and were the 14 seed while Jesuit is the 5 seed and Brother Martin the 8 seed? Crappy out of district schedule?

Probably scheduled some games they knew they could win, just like the old days.

I have 10 years of previous life to hate st. Pauls.

But that district was rediculously weak this year.

My issue w JC has always been that they stopped at 4A to ensure their championships.

I don't think bashing them over their schedule in baseball first year in 5A is legitimate.

Playing for years in a lower classification is bound to develop relationships w those schools, coaches, etc, and it is likely their schedule kept traditional tournaments and opponents first year out.

keep in mind fellas when they were in 4a and were trying to play 5a in football only - that's when the ball started rolling for play in class rule

which... the fallout has us where we are now.

They've always could have done this though. They get kids that go to school their just to play sports, mostly football. Most of these kids are also really good at baseball.

Catholic league baseball was way down this year, and even in years past, is hardly what it was 15-20 years ago when Curtis would have gotten respect for playing up in that league.

but they want to go brag and make tshirts now when they win the league. And go out and lose to fricking Chalmette

Oh you're right about that. Just saying that the idea that the move up is now "hurting the kids" is insane.

Don't laugh, I think we're on the come up... 70 wins in three years, sure in an easy district, but who else is doing that?
