Official Baseball Hall of Fame Announcement thread
Time: 6 p.m. ET
Date: Tuesday, Jan. 21
TV channel: MLB Network
Live stream: MLB.com

Based on everything we have seen so far it looks like Jeter, Schilling, and Walker are the only definite players. Bonds and Clemens are close but I doubt they make up ground with the voters who have decided to keep their vote private. Both have 2 more years left on the ballot.

On a personal note Scott Rolen made a huge jump this year getting close to 50%, I'm glad voters have come around and the ballot isn't QUITE as backed up as last year.

The only sure fire HOF candidate to come on the ballot in the next 2 years is A-ROD, so hopefully it clears out.

2020 Ballot with last years vote%

Fangraph's crowd source projections with Ryan Thibodaux's collected ballots(~50% of eligible voters)

Per Thibodaux's spreadsheet, these are the number of ballots submitted by size

10-Player Ballots: 63
9-Player Ballots: 23
8-Player Ballots: 26
7-Player Ballots: 25
6-Player Ballots: 18
5-Player Ballots: 18
4-Player Ballots: 23
3-Player Ballots: 7
2-Player Ballots: 6
1-Player Ballots: 3
Blank Ballots: 0

Thing I posted in the other thread projects Walker to get 72.9% of the vote, just missing out.

He should find something to give him an edge and use it.

I am sure there are a few. There always are. There are some voters for these things that just LOVE to be "that guy".

Stats from the 90's are crazy, I was just looking at Larry Walker on Baseball reference and in 1999 he hit .379 with 37 homers and finihsed 10th in the MVP race

Any media member that has taken votes away from players that they voted for previously to make Jeter their lone candidate should have their voting rights revoked.

I know several individuals have done this, curious to see how many go through with it.

It used to piss me off so much that nobody could make the Baseball HOF unanimously

But it pisses me off more and makes even less sense Mariano Rivera is now the only unanimous winner

These people all need a kick to the dick.

Maybe even the 4 and 5 player ballots as well.

If I were voting, I could see a reason to not have him on my ballot. But only because the ballot has been allowed to back up for so long with the steroid era players.

I'd be trying to make sure someone like Rolen doesn't get dropped. Or that Walker gets in. And the available vote I'd use would be the Jeter vote, since he's going to get enough to get in anyway.

And I'd feel comfortable knowing that enough voters wouldn't be doing the same thing as me so Jeter's chances wouldn't be jeopardized.

This is hypothetical, though. I don't remember who I said I'd vote for previously.

Absolutely. It takes 3 votes for to offset a no vote. All these people just leaving their ballots mostly blank are fricking people over, hard.

I actually prefer a small hall, but I agree. There are more than three players deserving here. The people voting for Jeter alone are a joke.

re: Official Baseball Hall of Fame Announcement thread
Why? If Anything Rivera did deserve 100% since he is considered the best closer in baseball history.... Jeter I can 100% understand not giving him 100% because was never the best SS in baseball during his time as ARod, Nomar, Tejada were all better players.
