one scout times bo jackson at 4.12 and it's some official record. it's a myth. it's not electronically-timed with lasers like today. you can't compare those times, especially how long ago it was, to today
Your argument is invalid.
NFL.Com recognizes it, therefore it's official.
Records set when technology sucked still count.

Mike Lombardi is just a guy, not "NFL.com"
and did you even read what you quoted?
quote:
By more than one account, he ran the 40 in 4.19 seconds, thought to be the second-fastest ever run at the combine (Bo Jackson has the fastest verifiable combine 40 time of 4.12 seconds in 1986)
"Verifiable" means one guy clocked it at that time on his stop watch
there is a reason this qualifier is used. it's a single hand-timed 40. did you see how different the hand-times were today compared to the electronic times? did you read how many scouts had hand-times in the sub-4.2 range (for 40s that were in the mid 4.3s in electronic timing)?

FACT: Bo Jackson is Faster than a Smart Car

you're comparing apples to oranges. that's the point
let's not also forget that the 80s were possibly the height of emotional/mythological sports writing. the shittiness of that era is still seen today with how old writers try to talk about comparisons

They need to scout the MSB. Way more speed there!
Ford- 4.5 faster than K. Barner
24 reps on bench
K. Davis ran 4.37 official and repped 31!!! All at 230 lbs. Wow! He's gotta be moving up some boards

L. Bell too.
He definitely passes the "eyeball test"
If his knees hold up he could be a good value for someone

RBs named Bell are destined for atleast one good NFL season

Knile needs to prove that the injury is in the past. He struggled big time this year.
