As a Braves fan, I for enjoy having the entire southeast to ourselves with the next closest team being the Reds. Please don’t frick that up for us

that’s surprising. I’d think the Rays are closer than Cincinnati

In a perfect world, all the cities would have a similar stance to the stadium building issue and the owners would actually have to pay from their own pocket to build these things. But alas

Seems like after the Marlins Mafia Shakedown we are getting away from cities building stadiums. Rams/Charges and Clippers come to mind. Was the Warriors new stadium paid for by them?

Fun baseball fact to trot out at parties; Great American Ballpark in Cincy is the next closest stadium to Truist Park just outside Atlanta. Closer than Tropicana Field by 41 miles

Nationals Park is a distant third with loandepot Park in Miami right behind it.

Privately funded

NIMBYs did everything they could to try to block it still.

Las Vegas wont happen, if the Rangers could only last 25 years in a stadium due to high temperatures that are still a good 15-20 degrees cooler at game time than any game in Las Vegas would be, no way would Las Vegas be able to pull it off

The Rangers used to start games at 7:35pm because of the heat... but game time temps would be in the mid 90s. Las Vegas still has 110 degree temperatures even at night when the sun goes down.

They would need to build a stadium with a roof, and the Aviators Ballpark is nice but unless you have a suite going to games there is miserable. That ballpark is only 2 years old also, they would have to retrofit it to add more seats and a roof.

I think St. Louis and Pittsburgh are both closer than DC. And Cleveland, both Chicago parks, and Baltimore are closer to Atlanta than Miami. Maybe Milwaukee as well.

ETA: Detroit is also closer than Miami... Milwaukee is not.

I hope it isn't Vegas. I'd rather Nashville or Portland

Supply and demand.

If Oakland doesn't pony up some other city will and their current facility is a dump.

Charlie O all but said the A's moving to Atlanta was a done deal in the mid 60's but it was more or less about leveraging a better deal with Oakland.

Oakland needs to tell them to kick rocks.

Biggest reason why I follow college sports on a consistent basis is that they won't leave your state.

This city is nowhere near the national player this board makes it out to be.

The Diamondbacks don't seem to have issues...and Phoenix is easily 5-10 degrees hotter than Vegas.

LV Ballpark isn't an option. They'd need land to expand the stadium, which isn't available there. The area by Henderson Executive Airport and the Raiders' practice facility could work nicely for a new stadium.

Personally, I think that Vegas gets the NBA before MLB. They already have facilities in place for that and they have an established presence with Summer League games, the WNBA and past "home" games for the Jazz.(Your useless trivia for today...when Kareem Abdul - Jabbar broke the all time NBA scoring record, it was here in Vegas, when the Jazz played a few "home games" back in the 80's.
