Solid haul for the 'Stros, imo.

Carter is relatively young and has tons of power.
Peacock had a nice year in AAA last year and can be a solid 3/4.
Stassi is the A's best C prospect.

Lowrie has shown he can't stay healthy throughout his career.

Didn't the A's just bring in a Japanese SS?

Carter may hit 40 homers this year with those Crawford Boxes

Damn, Carter still has some holes in his bat but a .514 SLG & a .864 OPS are some pretty nice #'s coming to an Offense in desperate need of some production.

Good stuff Stros.

There are AL teams with a better rotation, or a better 'pen, or lineup. But OAK has the best depth in the league, in OF, INF, C, pitching.

Yeah, but they weren't sure on him being everyday. They had never stopped looking for another SS after passing on Escobar and Drew. I'd guess lowrie moves all over the infield though.

And Carter reminded me of Pedro Serrano. Tons of power, but struggled a lot, and wasn't the best 1b. I like Moss a lot, nice to see him get the whole year at 1st.

With Reddick, Cespedes, Coco, and now Chris Young, Carter couldn't dh full time either.

It's a good trade for the A's

Not to mention doing that at that monstrosity of a ballpark. Now he is in much friendlier hitting confines and will still get to travel to that hot air in Arlington often

Why would the A's trade Carter? Do they really trust Brandon Moss?

A's got Peacock in the Gio trade, correct?

Brandon moss was great the 2nd half of the year. Carter is a liability at first, and has holes in his swing. A lot of people in the organization didn't think he'd ever develop into a consistent mlb hitter

Moss has actually hit for power at the MLB level.

Carter has actually hit nothing.

since when is a 6+ ERA in AAA "solid"?
Carter simply adds depth to an already long list of "has power but can't hit" 1B/DH contenders the Astros already have.

As an Astros fan, I'm thinking Luhnow panicked. He wasn't sure if Lowrie could hold up until July, so he traded him now. I would've gambled and held on to him. If he stays healthy, this trade would look dramatically different. If he gets hurt... no huge loss, the team is destined for the cellar for the next 2 season anyway.

As an A's fan I'm sad to see Carter leave. Dude was a beast. Hope he does well for you Astros fans.
