That is so horrible. They had a worse winning ratio than a team that wins solely 1 game in 7 opportunities against top 10 teams. Worse than 1-6.

Top 10 teams are top 10 for a reason… no one’s going to have great records against them…

Ed Orgeron was 10-3 against top 10 teams after 2019 and finished his LSU tenure with a record of several games about .500 against them

That is pretty true for teams that aren’t constantly placed into the Top 10. But as much as they have been, you’d think they would have a better record.

ND is always overrated at the beginning of the season, never fall as far as they should after a loss, consistently wind up in better bowls than they deserve, and often lose them.

But this is 29 games over a 15 year span

The bowl games could only account for a little over half of these instances

I would say it's pretty common that they had someone like Clemson on the schedule who was objectively the better team in those years and favored to win

Guess it might be more interesting to see how they performed against the spread in these games

USC is generally ranked, and generally kicks NDs arse. Then add Clemson, Michigan (when they were playing regularly), Stanford when they were good...
It adds up.

They only have 4 top 10 wins in the last 15 years?

Definitely would’ve been off by at least 100% if I had to guess at that. LSU had more than that in 2011 alone. Probably had double that number in 2019 alone.

In fact, that’s unbelievable.

ETA don’t worry I did the homework below unlike you lazy bitches. OP throwing out guess work with the 15ish years. It’s 4-25 over the last 18 years to be exact.

Consistently overrated because of the name built almost 100 years ago.

2022 #4 Clemson
2020 #1 Clemson
2018 #7 Stanford
2012 #8 Oklahoma
2005 #3 Michigan

Sure enough. Had to go back damn near 20 years to find their 5th top 10 win.

Eta Shocking considering how commonplace of an accomplishment that is in the SEC. I bet you wouldn’t even have to go that far back for a USCe, A&M, Mizzou or Arkansas.

That one doesn't even count since Lawrence was out and they just barely managed to beat the backup.

Their record in BCS/New Years 6/Playoff games is even worse. Have been blown out in every single time except once. ND is a relic of a program living off the past because they won a lot of games in 40’s, 60’s, and 70’s. It’s laughable the attention they get now.

And not only that, when you beat a Top 10 team, they tend to fall out of the Top 10, so it doesn’t count as a Top 10 win
