Those Bowl practices mean a lot to the coaches.

Don’t blame them for opting out of a pointless game. They can’t complain about missing playoffs, need to join a conference.

Hell of a way to show it

That was my first thought.

That and what a way to crap on the seniors who may never play football again.

New rule incoming. “You are ineligible for the college football playoff if your school opts out of the postseason the year prior”

No one gives a shite one way or another. The bowl games are just background noise during the holiday season.

They didn’t deserve to be in the playoff

Entitled brats acting like entitled brats. More at 11.
We could've had Catholics vs Mormons in the Pop Tarts Bowl.

Non-playoff bowls just don’t matter anymore. Yeah, ND could’ve accepted and had 100 guys opt out like 2023 FSU did. Watching a school’s JV team in a bowl game isn’t all that fun.

Iowa State and Kansas State opted out too. The bowl system as a whole is collapsing.

Correct. And I’m sure the players would rather be at home than an empty campus over the winter break for a meaningless game.

Are you guys dense? This is a negotiating ploy vis a vis their current ACC contract. They probably want out of that crappy deal they made for Kelly to guarantee the ACC 5 games a year.

You guys need to take the blinders off and see these moves for the business and long term purposes they serve.

This is chess. Not checkers

We aren't that far away from seeing players opt out of playoff games
This has already happened. I know Pribula left Penn St before the playoffs to transfer to Mizzou last year.

lol no they’re not. The majority are owned and operated by ESPN and exist just to be TV inventory during the holidays.

Yep. And why should ND fill ESPN's pockets after what transpired?

O wow. Well this is a major precedent that has been set. In the few times where a team opted out of a bowl game, that has been from the coach leaving the team already.

Opting out of the bowl game because the committee didn't place you in the playoffs is going to have some long term ramifications.
