Should be a lesson to your son about being fans of players rather than teams.

That really stinks. I would be kissed as well. More about trying to do something nice for your kid and then that. Out of curiosity what is it that you told your son when you found out?

I don't get it. So because some starters didn't play it wasn't a nice gesture or a good time to go to an NBA game with his dad? Slightly disappointed, I get it. But perhaps also a good life lesson that you don't just always get what you want or expect.

When we heard it on the radio, he looked sad but I told him I’m sorry that happened but that’s life, things happen. I told him you are still going to your first nba game and we are still going to have fun. I told him he can still see Steph Curry on the bench even though he was not going to play. I was just trying to cheer him up.

Correct. It does suck for OP, but this will be the defense of the league when these concerns come up. You are purchasing a ticket to see a game between team A and team B.

I blame Greg Popovich for this because he was the one who started this crap.

Pop did it because the Spurs big three was aging and needed it. They would do it in back to backs and things like that. It spread like wildfire after that. As someone said, we are 8-10 games into the season and already pulling this stunt.

The first game I ever went to was in the Alamodome. Spurs v Warriors in February of ‘97. Both teams were terrible. SA had a string of playoff appearances, but that year had injuries to Robinson, Elliott, and Avery Johnson. I saw studs like Will Perdue, Cadillac Anderson, and Dominique Wilkins (yup, he was a Spur). Warriors won. Spurs went to the lottery, drafted Duncan. The rest is history. I laugh now that the first game I saw was the one year in a span of about 30 where they DIDN’T make the playoffs. I still had a blast.

Agreed. Now if it’s tennis, golf or boxing, TS would have a point.

If I knew the starters wouldn’t be playing, I would not have bought tickets to the game. Silly me, I forgot this is the new culture of the nba.

It was their 5th game in 7 days, the second night of a back to back, and the final game of a road trip.

I get that it sucks for you kid to have missed those guys playing but if you had looked at their schedule you'd have seen that game had a really good chance of being one they'd decide to sit their starters.

This is one of many issues that come from the bloated playoff system. They didn’t play because it’s not really important. When every team with a pulse makes the playoffs, this is what you get in the regular season.

Pels won. All that matters.

Did you fly to SF? No?

Then you spent money to see the Pelicans. Hope you enjoyed Zion and BI

Update

After going to the Golden State vs Pelicans game a few weeks ago only to see the Warriors play the backups and my son being being disappointed, I saw a few days ago that they were coming back to play the Pelicans tonight. I bought tickets this time for $29 each. I saw they all played last night vs Houston and I just knew for sure they were playing tonight. My son was happy but that didn’t last long after seeing this lol

I went ahead and sold my tickets on seatgeek and got my money back and will take my son to see the Phoenix Suns in December. I read that this is the third time in a row that Steve Kerr has rest the starters when they came to New Orleans.

Just one of the many reasons the NBA sucks so bad.

I thought after the way they played last night and got their first road victory, they would want to keep that going….

Nah, that really hasn't been how GSW has been operating. They basically don't care about the regular season, they will turn it up a notch late in the year to make the playoffs. They don't care about seeding
