If Danny Green is your 3rd best player, you're going to have some serious depth problems.
I mean he was probably the 4th best player on a team that just won the NBA championship (behind Leonard, Lowry, and Siakam) and the LAL’s 2nd best player is far better than the 2nd best on that Toronto Leonard team.

Back to the original question. Truth of the matter is the Lakers screwed themselves by even signing LeBron. That is why I am laughing at the Lakers.

I am not begrudging LeBron the player because he is obviously in top 5 of all time. The Lakers screwed themselves due to the timing of signing him and having to deal with Klutch sports. Had they signed him 5 years ago great, but last year was impulsive and, frankly, stupid.

Before signing LeBron the young Lakers had a solid 2 months before the of the season. They were starting to get Luke's system. Additionally they had 2 max slots open and Paul George/Kawhi had both made it known they wanted to play for the Lakers. Things were looking very bright.

First George jilts them for OKC after they sign LeBron and now Kawhi does the same. They did get AD but had to give up all their young assets plus future 1st rounders when its very possible the Lakers, minus LeBron, will be in the lottery. To make matters worse LeBron is old and once one injury happens players usually start the breaking down cycle. Throw in gimpy arse AD and one has to wonder if the pair will even play 60 games together next year and even less following years.

Had the Lakers remained patient they would probably have Kawhi and George while still holding on to all their young assets without the headache of LeBron and Klutch sports.

No, you’re quote was

Simmons Embiid and Al Horford would be a good trio in the early 2000s

It’s no spacing on the floor with those guys.

I said based off the Lakers big 3, there’s no spacing. Just as you falsely said about philly

Philly has better overall players like horford, Tobias and Richardson who can all shoot and play 30mpg. Lakers have a G league talent like Quinn cook that can give you 10. And with no other ball handler or slasher Lebron 3pt Is not going to be great since he excels in catch & shoot, Congrats.

Gasol/Ibaka/Van Vleet

At the very least it was a 4th best by committee situation, IMO

You dummy. Simmons and Embiid were toddlers. Horford was barely a teenager. They'd be terrible

Several paragraphs of genuine concern about the Lakers The Lakers had 5 consecutive losing seasons & hadn't signed a major free agent since 1996. A man of LeBron's caliber wants in & you take him.
Ask the Knicks how waiting on Flakey arse young NBA stars like Durant,Iring, Kawhi, etc.... has worked out.

Why would the Lakers gamble on Kawhi Leonard walking away from the Spurs/ Raptors ($50-$80 million dollars)? And unlike Kawhi Leonard it seems Paul George had no intention on walking away from any more money after leaving his max in Indy.

Ok then what are you basing it on?

PER? Cousins had a more efficient year than Horford according to PER

i wouldn't say all that, but it's up there...

casual fans, who, all they know, is that they didn't get their intended target(s)...

but they have quietly assembled a pretty good roster, considering the money they had to work with and the sheer number of players they still needed to fill out their roster... they are a lock to be anywhere from 1-4 next year, and while i do think the Clippers are better, at least on paper, right now, who know's what'll happen still...

If Lebron and AD play 90% of their games then I would agree. If either one misses a long stretch then they will struggle to make the playoffs. The West is that good.

That being said, if they just make it into the playoffs with a healthy Lebron and AD then they will be a very tough out.

Most of the hate is from Pelicans fans.

They are realizing they are a farm team.

Draft and develop Chris Paul and he leaves.
Draft and develop Anthony Davis and he leaves.
Draft Zion. Will develop him until he leaves.

It is a vicious cycle that would make any fan bitter.
