The batting averages of the lowly A's lineup was:
.154
.222
.244
.231
.233
.198
.222
.204
.214
How does a major league team trot that lineup out?
Minor league lineups are better than this

I will say the balls have seemed more dead than in years past. Just an observation.

They are actively trying to kill off fan support in the city

I mean they traded away/let walk their 3 or 4 best hitters from last years team. So not surprising

Olsen, Chapman, Marte, Cahna, etc.

This is their usual suck arse team for 2-3 years then they’ll make a run at a playoff spot for 2 years or so, and tear it down again

When your best player is Ramon Laureano, you know it's bad.

League wide average is .243 so far, down from a modern high of .271 in peak steroid era, but last season was .244 and .245 in 2020.

Analytic stat geeks … and I think analytics are valid but you can’t reduce or quantify every aspect of a competitive, physical sport to numbers, nor should you even try … would tell you batting average is an irrelevant stat in 2023.

So let’s look at the OPS+ of this lineup:

69
80
117
113
90
73
61
76
76

And the WAR:

0.0
0.2
2.4
1.1
-0.3
0.0
-0.1
-0.1
0.7

Verdict: Through old- or new-school eyes, this team sucks, LOL.

Which explains why Dusty Baker is so adamant in losing to them so much this year. Trying to keep the fans in that dump of a stadium in Oak!

Batting .300 is a thing of the past with this new analytics bullshite. You are correct though OP, those are exceptionally shitty. Looks like my Reds batting averages. Total clown show.

You left off the DH who had no average because it was his first MLB game. He went 1 for 4 so he now has a .250 avg.
