What's amazing about it is that even when coaches create the culture, a lot of the players seem to be gungho about putting their teammates through it.
I am going to guess that nearly every team has some hazing to varying degrees of homoerotism.

Pffff Penn State harbored a pedophile for decades and got a slap on the wrist.
If internet culture exists in the 1980s, Penn State would have been destroyed far far earlier.

What’s up with Big 10 schools and bizarre naked hazing with gay undertones? So weird
Lots of rich white kids from weird families is mg guess.
In the SEC, the black dudes, which make up like 65%+ of the rosters, would probably tell them all to fuk off. Or instead just beat the hell out of each other like they do in their frats.
As for somehere like NW, which is basically Ivy League (which is where skull and bones etc all have similar and worse hazing) so you get the point.

Off topic but it is wild how every college has a hard and fast policy against hazing yet some fraternities get away with fricking branding pledges

Yeah, the black frats like Q's seem never get hit with anything or at least never make headlines. They are notorious for physically abusing the living shite out of their pledges.
In saying that, the brand could have come once he was was full member.

The plot thickens
quote:
former Northwestern football player who came forward with allegations of widespread hazing within the program spoke Sunday with university president Michael Schill, who is considering harsher discipline for coach Pat Fitzgerald.
The former player, who spoke to ESPN on the condition of anonymity, said he told Schill about the hazing he witnessed and experienced at Northwestern, much of which he said was sexualized. Schill, in a letter sent late Saturday to the Northwestern community, had said he will reassess the two-week suspension Fitzgerald received Friday following a university-commissioned investigation of the hazing allegations.
quote:
Fitz absolutely knew about hazing in this program," the former player told ESPN. "Fitz absolutely failed by not intervening. Fitz knew, and he should have made it stop; and if he truly did not know, he should not be the head coach. Either way, he should not be the head coach, because he is not monitoring and protecting the safety and well-being of student-athletes."
quote:
A current Northwestern player, who asked to remain anonymous, also told ESPN on Sunday that the former player, whose hazing allegations late in 2022 launched the investigation, informed him of a detailed plan with the sole objective to take down Fitzgerald. The current player on Sunday relayed a conversation he said he had early this year with the former player to Northwestern trustees and other influential university figures.
"He just kept emphasizing, 'Yeah, it'll be OK. I'm just trying to get Coach Fitz fired,'" the current player told ESPN. "I don't think he ever acknowledged what he's saying is not true. It was just like, 'I might embellish or exaggerate to get Coach Fitz fired.' He said his sole goal was to see Coach Fitz rot in jail.

Ramon Diaz Jr., an OL from 2005-08, said he was forced to shave "Cinco de Mayo" on his head. Another time, a coach told him he & his family must know how to clean houses. HC Pat Fitzgerald, allegedly, asked Black players and another coach to cut off their longer hairstyles.

He’ll probably end up on an NFL staff. His days a a college HC are over.

Wasn’t Northwestern where the athletes wanted to form a Union?
