I guess that the NIU coach could mean that he wants ND to win out so he could say they beat the Champs. Only problem with that theory is that ND should be out of the running after that miserable loss at home to mighty NIU.

Watch the actual interview clip. The Barstool guys brought up the fact that if ND does well it'll help NIU's postseason chances and it's obvious that's not what Hammock was referring to.
Hammock was saying that he understands what it's like to start a career as a black head coach and while he doesn't understand what it's like to coach ND, there is commonality between him and Freeman so he's rooting for the guy.
