Would you rather win the NIT or lose in the Sweet Sixteen of March Madness?

Obviously you'd rather win 2 games in the tournament vs win the NIT.

Nobody watches the NIT if you end up there it was a shite season.

I'd rather lose a play in game on Tuesday night than win the NIT.

i am not talking shite at all, just asking since you experienced it, but would you rather lose to a 16 seed or win the nit?

I'm not actually a Purdue fan.

But now that its happened more than once, I don't think it's as devastating.

winning an ncaa tourney game and waiting 2 days for the next one or the next weekend is a pretty great feeling.

IMO, I think the NCAA Tournament is the most fun sporting event of the year. Yes, the individual games may not be as intense as something like a football playoff game, but it is so much fun to watch multiple wall to wall games from basically from 11:30 am to 11:30 pm. The NIT is something most people completely forget about unless you have a team playing. So the answer is easy...give me an NCAA Tournament appearance every.single.time over winning the NIT.

It's kind of like saying would you rather watch your football team lose by two TDs in the first round of the 12 team CFP or watch them win the Outback Bowl (or whatever its called now)

I wouldn't mind taking a trip to see my team play in Madison Square Garden with a mediocre banner on the line.

But the Sweet 16 is better. A round of 32 loss and we got something to debate.

Ask the South Carolina Gamecock fans. They won the NIT back to back in 2005 & 2006. After previously winning it in 2002. That’s actually pretty crazy.

That being said, I’m sure the couple of Sweet Sixteen banners mean more to the fans.

having a rooting interest beats having a gambling interest in it.

Getting out of the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament is always better. I think it also depends on the program. For instance, Wichita State got more out of winning the NIT in 2011 than they would have if they had lost in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. But a team like Texas in 2019 was viewed as a failure for not making the tournament.

Alabama can't even make a run in the NIT.
