In before each team agrees, behind the scenes to bench all starters for the first two games, effectively turning the 2 extra games into glorified preseason games.

This makes too much sense for the NFL & players assoc. to go with this.

I think teams would make more money by turning a preseason home game into a regular season home game. You would get more people to show up for a game that counts, meaning more people paying for parking, buying merchandise and concessions.
And teams could do joint scrimmages in order to evaluate talent and teach guys the system. I seriously doubt losing two preseason games will affect the quality of play. Hell, that final game is a joke anyhow, since no starters play in it.

So reduce the preseason to 0 games?

thats the real issue in all of this

the NFL makes bank as they get the majority of revenue from preseason games so they are not wanting to give that up

players are looking at contracts based on 16 games and not wanting to play preseason unless they get paid extra for it

the best solution is the 18 games an 2 pre season games but then the NFL want to keep the 4 preseason cash cow and just add 2 more games yet the players say thats too much because it would turn into 4 pre season, 16 regular, then 3-4 playoff games and then SB

its all scripted and rigged at this point so what does it matter, leave it like it is and enjoy the fake games

If owners want 18 games that revenue split is going to have to change.

How’s this work anyway, they already charge full price for preseason.

You have to expand the rosters for 18 games, and there goes your improved quality.

The players should ask for fully guaranteed contracts before agreeing to 18 games.

Weird holding pattern between the NFL and NFLPA. Each side wants more money and more safety at the same time, but each side’s own positions conflict with themselves.

More games makes more money for both sides but is less safe, and more roster spots costs more money but makes the game safer.

At some point, the game will have to go through some sort of a seismic rule change unprecedented since the introduction of the forward pass.

Yep, that should be the deal. Its a shame they don't have the wherewithal to hold out for guaranteed contracts, frick NFL owners

16 games is perfect

The playoff format is perfect

Why do these people insist on fixing something that’s not broken???
