They want to have playing defense actually matter.

Hold to a field goal and you get a shot.

What would've happened if Washington's possession took the full 10 minutes and they kicked a FG as it expired? Would Atlanta still get a possession?

Games over. Great question. Teams having 2 timeouts its unlikely to ever happen.

Crazy the NFC playoff bracket will have a 12-5 #7 Seed and a 14-3 #5 Seed

Let me rephrase: What reason did the NFL give for not allowing both teams at least one possession?

It was a field goal to win a game, but that changed after the Saints won a playoff game.

So Detroit pretty much needs to rest their guys that are a little banged up tomorrow as it's essentially a meaningless game

Yes I’ve always said that I hated the OT rules. It’s like allowing a soccer or one hockey team shots to win the game but not the other team. It’s archaic as frick

These rules cost Tampa 2 OT games this year. Finally helped them

Many years ago they had Golden goals in soccer, even that was eventually scrapped. Every team no matter what should at least have a chance to answer a score.

This is awesome. Atlanta fans thought the FG was good until it wasn’t.

NFL ot rules are kinda dumb. You win the toss, and you score a TD, it's over.

I just don't understand why it isn't played as a totally normal additional quarter. And spare me the player safety BS, nobody gives a shite about players safety
