Deacon Jones
Merlin Olsen
Jack Youngblood
Rosey Grier

From 1971-1979 the Steelers were the best ever imo. They made the playoffs every year and won 4 Super Bowls and made 6 AFCCG….

Steel Curtain is probably the best unit ever.

I didn’t pick the Steelers because

1. There have been few star D linemen on the Steelers before or after.
2..The Purple People Eaters were damn good.
3 The Vikings have had 2 HOFers after the 70s.

The Vikings d line got crushed in every SB they played in. KC, Miami, Pittsburgh, and the Raiders all ran through them and around them.

If we're going to even consider the Skins WR, then we have to mention the Dolphins.

Paul Warfield
Mark Duper
Mark Clayton
Nat Moore
Irving Fryar

I dig this thread. Nice to see my Vikings on the list. Pat & Kevin Williams were solid DL for a recent stretch there too. The Williams Wall

Every team has a good WR list. It’s the nature of the modern game.

I had the Chargers in my top 3-5
Alworth
Joiner
Wes Chandler
Keenan Allen
VJac
John Jefferson

I mean, the Saints aren’t a great WR team and you could do Abramlwicz, Eric Martin, Horn, Colston and MT13.

It's close but I would probably give the edge to the Colts:

Unitas > Starr
Manning > Rodgers
Luck = Favre (in talent albeit cut short)
Jones > Herber

49ers are in the discussion as well

Nice list and topic. I've thought of these things before.

If you combined CB and S for an overall defensive backfield like you did DE and DTs for a D-Line, the Steelers would have Mel Blount and Rod Woodson to go with those safeties.

Keeping those positions separate, I don't know if Green Bay doesn't give that Steelers trio a run for their money.

Willie Wood
Darren Sharper
LeRoy Butler

At the RB position, the Rams would have the following:

Eric Dickerson
Marshall Faulk
Steven Jackson
Todd Gurley

Though Dickerson and Faulk only played about half their careers with the Rams, they were in their primes and had huge impacts, each with record setting seasons.

Well the TE is not Tony Gonzalez and Kelce it is John Mackey and Dallas Clark from the Colts.

LMAO the TE one is by far the easiest and least arguable position on the entire list

I've thought about it.

Agree with Unitas over Starr.
Favre has to be over Luck, though it's a shame Luck's career never really got to play out to its fullest.
I don't think the book is closed yet on Manning over Rodgers. Currently I'd have Manning over him, as a player and definitely as a personality and team leader. However, Rodgers has had to really carry that dang Green Bay team. If somehow he gets another ring before he retires and plays a few more seasons at his current level, that debate is going to be endless.

First two are two of the top 10 CBs of all time.

Darrell Green, Champ Bailey, Shawn Springs, Fred Smoot, DeAngeo Hall, Deion Sanders , Carlos Rogers

49ers QB

I have to give San Francisco the nod over Green Bay.

Y.A. Tittle
John Brodie
Joe Montana
Steve Young

Don’t overlook John Brodie. He was named MVP in 1970, and was one of the best QBs of his era.

Jerry Rice and TO as #1 and #2 put the 49ers up there. However, like with Colts, another franchise worth mentioning.

Rams:

Torry Holt
Isaac Bruce
Henry Ellard
Elroy "Crazy Legs" Hirsch
Cooper Kupp - I think he's got a few more All-Pros left.

Jerry might win on quality over quantity, bit the Rams have HOF Isaac Bruce, HOF Torry Holt, likely HOF Cooper Kupp, and 2x all pro Henry Ellard. All played there in there prime. Not true for Owens in SF.

Edit: Just noticed RajunCajun beat me to it.

Miami has a sneaky deep OL list. The top 3 for the Raiders is hard to beat. It’s definitely quantity/quality argument like WR.
