I would go with "people pretended to care a lot because it was the outrage of the moment, then time passed and when it wasn't in the news, we regressed to the mean."

I saw a lot of people swear off the NFL for life when it was hot. Then Trump didn't tweet about it for a while, it got replaced by other causes and the NFL was still on.

100%. The people who bitch the most about outrage addiction suffer themselves from outrage addiction. #TakeAKnee was a great example.

one was a decent WR for the Saints before he got traded, and the other got a lot of sacks when he was on the Rams...

Don't even bother. It's like talking to a parrot. It says things but it doesn't know or care what it's saying.

They may be kneeling but it's not being thrown in everyone's face.

hasn't helped that you've got 1 great team and then a whole lot of meh

CFB is only in week 5, but this statement seems to be true. There are still big games to be played no doubt, but no one has looked like Bama thus far.

I'm still boycotting the shitty regional games I get in the morning. frick the Falcons and the titans.

But somehow they have made Thursday night football a watchable product. Which is good not the NFL.

I have watched more this year than last season. I always watch the Saints, but rarely any other games until recently. This season, I have been watching quite a few more. If the protests begin to get traction again in terms of press, I'll simply switch channels. I wonder if the NFL owners pushed for less coverage or if it was simply a business decision on the part of the networks. Either way, the end result is that this seems to have been good for the ratings. The fact that the ratings were down and, now minus the visual display of the protests, is up is interesting. To me, it would seem to indicate a high degree of correlation between the boycott and the ratings drop. FWIW, I believe in the message, but I just couldn't stomach the delivery.

That’s the thing for me, I love watching the NFL even games that don’t include the Saints but for a little while there different political views being forced into the broadcast just turned me off all together. Play football and give me decent commentary about the game and I’m all in.

Well, let’s be honest. NFL is a much better product than the NCAA version of football. I don’t like what the 4 team playoff system has done to college football.

Please! The NFL is a watered down, over regulated, over legislated, shell of what it used to be! The rules changes have ruined the product and defenses have been neutered. The salary cap has also made it to where teams can no longer built a complete great team.

It is a superior product. CFB is such a shitty product and league structure

The only thing that may be superior are the athletes, but they are only it for the money! EVERY game counts in college football, because one loss at the wrong of the year and you are done.

So the snowflakes aren't really boycotting the league because players are kneeling, but because they were seeing the players kneeling

Sounds about right
