While Adrian Peterson trade came down, NFL said owners will consider a rule change that would require players to stand for national anthem.

I appreciate their right to do it as it's their league, but I'm never a fan of forcing anyone to do anything.

The fact that this option is having to be discussed is pathetic

Better make sure that punishment is steep because they're gonna have a problem with that one.

They have every right to quit and find another job.

This whole thing was almost a memory until Trump tweeted about it. It would probably start to fade away again if they just ignore it. This seems a bit unnecessary.

Players aren't forced to do anything. If they don't like their employers policies, they can quit. Simple as that. Let's see how many of them give up their million dollar salaries to fight "oppression".

We are going to find out how stupid DeMaurice Smith really is over this one. He is going to argue 1st amendment etc, but it is not a public issue this is a personal contract for services.

If the NFLPA to push too hard it will get smashed in the face.

But they could get David Doty to hear any case and he is NFLPA loving fool though, but smarter by fiddy trillion million times than me.

DeMaurice Smith makes Gene Upshaw look like Plato and I never thought I would say that.

I'm not disagreeing, and like with their code of conduct policy, this stuff needs to be in writing. The NFL has been woefully inconsistent with their messaging, and I'm fairly certain this isn't born out of their disdain of seeing the flag disrespected and more to do with public perception.

I get what you're saying but nobody is "forcing" them to play NFL football. There are very few human beings who aren't forced to do something they don't love with respect to their jobs.

Agreed. But like any other company they're going to look out for their bottom line.

This is not a battle the players should fight IMO. They lose no matter what they do.

and im sure this mornings headlines will just solidify their minds even more.

Monday night’s match-up between the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears was the least watched NFL game this season, down 17% from last week and reaching a regular season low for the league and ESPN
