Are you Vikings planning on drafting a QB?

That seems to be the spot everyone thinks JJ McCarthy goes

Staying in the NFC North: Sources tell me and @TomPelissero that former #Packers RB Aaron Jones is expected to sign with the #Vikings, just a day after being released in Green Bay. This sets up two revenge games next year.

He gets a 1-year, $7M deal.

Would love to see the percentage of FAs that either resign or sign within the division, feels like it would be a solid 80 percent

I was expecting him to give it a shot with Sean over in Denver. Now I am more convinced Denver will try to do what it needs to and get JJ drafted.

You don’t want a guy who has had every single advantage in college and still did nothing special. Burrow, Tua, Mac, and Daniels were surrounded by elite talent and put up amazing seasons. McCarthy was surrounded by elite talent and was meh.

I have heard several analyze and former NFL QBs come out and say he will be the best in this draft because Michigan ran a Pro Style Offense that required JJ to read the defense and make check downs and go through progressions and often hit his 3rd and 4th options, where the other top QBs in the draft were locked in to their number 1 or 1 and 2 targets before throwing it away or running. The former QBs saying that said that fans don't understand how important that is to a coach and to run an offense in the NFL. If he can make those reads quicker than others, he will have the most success earlier.

Lamar was never really an option for Atlanta. Baltimore gave themselves more leverage by using that transition tag; attaching two first rounders to Lamar kept them from getting into a bidding war.

Different offense. He spent a year in the Kyle Shanahan QB rehab and is going to a similar offense in Minny

This sounds like very 1990s analysis. Hell, did UM even really run a "pro style" offense for today's pro game?

Look at the top QBs in the NFL and this argument doesn't really hold water.

Mahomes: spread/air raid
Lamar: spread/RPO/spread option
Allen: whatever Wyoming was running was so bad it doesn't count for anything
Tua: spread
Dak: spread option
Stafford: pro style
Tua: spread
Goff: spread/air raid

If he were so much better at this, it would have shown in his college production.

I'm not arguing he can't be the best QB to come out this year, just that this argument it shite.

LOL, Tom Grossi just put out a video about Aaron Jones signing with the Vikings. He ended it by walking out of the front door of his house and lying down in the middle of the street.

Michigan ran a mid 90s Cowboys style offense. McCarthy had less than 200 passing ypg this year. He was making one and two reads just the same as everyone else.

They didn’t. Anyone who actually read into that situation knows he was always going to the Ravens.

The restricted tag allowed the Ravens to match any offer made. Falcons weren’t gonna offer him 50M and give up 2 first round picks just for the Ravens to probably match it

I saw that dumbass image on Facebook last night and it’s intentionally misleading.

Lamar was asking for at least 5 years with at least $50 million a year and wanted $200 million guaranteed.

The cap took a huge leap going into 2024 and the Falcons are only on the hook for 2 years and $90 million with Kirk.

I saw a pretty good analysis of JJ's technique that he is rock solid for throws down the middle, but a mess toward the sidelines. I'm not sure how much of that can be fixed. I would absolutely take Penix over him and watch Penix throw darts all over the field like he did most of last season. Penix got rushed on a few throws in the national championship game and all of a sudden, people think he sucks. Yeah, I know injuries are an issue. But, he just put together two solid/great seasons.
