On the back of their defense and special teams. Burrow had one top 5 season in 2021(due to having the second highest yac/pa in the league) but has been above average otherwise. Signing the deal he signed took away the no offensive line excuse (which hasn’t been valid since his rookie season anyways).

You just contradicted yourself

He had the 2nd highest YAC/PA in the league, but it was defense and special teams that carried him?

Kirk is the GOAT in games that don’t matter.

True, but let’s be honest, the Falcons didn’t sign him believing he was the missing link for a Super Bowl winner. He does however stabilize their QB position and give them 9-11 win potential. That franchise needs to get back over .500. They need to give their fans some signs that are genuinely committed to winning. You can have a winning culture until you actually start winning. This is a move in that direction.

His defense and special teams carried him in the playoffs. His great 2021 was due in large part to his receiving corps giving him that elite YAC (which led to an elite YAC/PA for Burrow). Their O-line went from bottom 4 in 2020 to middle of the road in 2021 as well. To his credit, he also stopped trying to play hero ball and taking what you can get (TD > First Down > Checkdown > get rid of it).

Mahomes is in a tier all by himself. There are like 4-6 guys who fade in between that tier 2 and tier 3 area (Goff, Burrow, Jackson, Tua, Herbert, and Hurts) with Allen being a mainstay there. Rodgers was there through 2021 but slipped in 2022.

Would Cousins have gotten that money if the Falcons hired Belichick? That's who Blank wanted to hire but magically got talked out of it.

And now this offseason they get aggressive and sign a QB after doing nothing the previous year but trot out Ridder. Did not even try to get Lamar Jackson but he probably knew he'd be back with the Ravens anyway. But you explore that option at least and throw out a number. They didn't do that.

Burrow, Jackson, and Herbert are significantly better than Tua, Hurts, and Goff.

McCarthy started 29 games the last two seasons and threw 654 passes in those starts. That’s less than 23 a game. Despite the media yapping about him he was insignificant to Michigan’s success last year. His job was to hand it off 40 times, throw some check downs and short passes and occasionally hit a wide open guy off of play action. Not to mention having every teams’ tape and signals during that time.

You don’t want a guy who has had every single advantage in college and still did nothing special. Burrow, Tua, Mac, and Daniels were surrounded by elite talent and put up amazing seasons. McCarthy was surrounded by elite talent and was meh.

Stats and more importantly reality say otherwise.

when Harbaugh was suspended, they really leaned on the run game and great defense to win.

I don't know if you draft a guy in the 1st round knowing that. And Harbaugh loves that kid. But maybe Harbaugh was just that connected to his team that's how he wanted to really win games?

you can't believe much you hear this time of year but which QB is more questionable in his range? Bo Nix? Pennix? People harp on Pennix's injury history. Bo Nix ran a QB friendly system at Oregon and that's okay because that's what gave them the best chance in CFB that year. That Oregon system isn't like an NFL system.

probably a good trade for both sides.

The Lions corners nearly got them beat by the Bucs in the divisional round. Timely blitzes by the Lions and a few turnovers were the difference.

Tampa wasn't too far from a NFCCG which is crazy to say.

Rams are putting together a solid Oline. Stafford should have another great year.

The #Rams have agreed to terms with G Jonah Jackson on a three-year, $51 million deal with $34 million guaranteed, sources say.

A big payday for Jackson, who will join the recently re-signed Kevin Dotson as L.A. pours big money into the middle of their offensive line.
