Fantasy football and gambling is the reason the nfl is so popular . 16 regular season games (one a week ) make it easy for both fantasy players and gamblers compared to the other major sports

Fans that do go have become increasingly trashy. Keeps away families.

$12 for a pretty good 6 pack vs one Coors Light and no bathroom wait

NFL football is just better on TV

It's not.

But, the convenience factor has become the major driver IMO.

That’s what happens when you have teams like the Dolphins and Redskins.

I can’t imagine the Chargers are making numbers look good either. There were a ton of bad teams in the league this year. Like really bad. Usually it’s a little more competitive

He's obviously hyperbolic, but he isn't wrong.
FF and gambling are huge for the nfl

The NFL is just a really bad product right now. Everything about the experience stinks. Too $$$, lines are way too long, games way too long, no action, referee BS every game. It’s just much better to sit at home and watch red zone or whatever.

I can’t imagine being the kind of person that routinely attends NFL games in person.

This thread screams at how right St. Louis folks were about attendance and the Rams and how we got screwed.

I think all live sporting event attendance is going down across the board.

In today's age, there are better, cheaper entertainment options than live sporting events.

Until leagues figure out their product is overpriced and adjust to the new market, the trend will continue.

You need much cheaper tickets, much cheaper parking, much cheaper concessions, all that jazz.

I believe they are
Because you can literally stream every single game now
Even in college football.
Living in NYC you could watch every single one of FIU or Wyoming’s football games this year, via an extremely cheap streaming package

Jaguars (8.7 percent drop), Raiders (7.6 percent) and Bengals (7.0 percent).

Makes sense. Jags sucked and their division rivals don't have passionate fan bases to pick up the slack. Raiders lost some fans from being a lame duck, and the Chargers don't have fans. Bengals couldn't boost their attendance with Steelers fans because they weren't going to travel to Cincy to watch a practice squad.

All sports are more and more geared for TV content and it provides a bigger and bigger slice of their revenue.

and the viewing shares get smaller as the selection available gets wider

A decent cowboys ticket is $250...I absolutely refuse to believe their attendance is 90K a game average...

Here's an idea... Cut back on free agency and salary cap a little so teams can stay together and build winning cultures.

There are many reasons attendance is dwindling, but don’t underestimate the impact that ticket brokers and ticket fees play.

Especially concerning fees. I can afford “$60” tickets. But when fees are tacked on and it raises it to about $84, I can still technically afford it but it definitely turns me off from buying them.

The landscape changes. Interest wanes. Rabid fans aren't as rabid. NFL Parity. Look at Atlanta, Carolina, Denver all teams that went from Super Bowl(s) to horrible because windows are so narrow now.

They put a team back in LA who gives zero fricks, taking that team from a legitimate fanbase in San Diego. Oakland to Vegas is a good move, but it was gonna hurt this year and next...Maybe. Dallas sucks and both NY teams suck. Thats 3 teams with a rabid fan base who are beyond struggling right now.

Football is not friendly right now for the casual fan. You really have to understand football on a higher level like many on this board. Especially when dealing with parity. I can watch ANY game and get some enjoyment from it. Not everyone is wired that way, and I am getting older. I am not saying I am somebody who understands the game like a position coach, but I get the game and can pick apart somethings before the commentator tells me. We are an aging breed. You ask me over for a nice pool party or BBQ party instead of the couch and sunday ticket? I'm headed to the pool these days. Unless the Saints are involved. or LSU

My $0.02.... Down vote me, agree with me, or pick apart my points.
