The Cowboys averaged 90,929, leading the league for 11 straight seasons. Fifteen teams saw a decline in attendance, led by the Jaguars (8.7 percent drop), Raiders (7.6 percent) and Bengals (7.0 percent).

Two teams saw an increase of more than five percent. Washington’s audience grew by 7.3 percent (the stadium was still at less than 80 percent capacity), and the Bills have a 6.0-percent jump.

I'd like to know what percentage of profit comes from ticket/concession sales versus the TV contracts. I'd imagine teams wouldn't go out of business if they had to sell $6 beers instead of $12. As much as I have enjoyed going to games, it's not surprising. The at home experience is getting better with affordable HDTVs, not having to sit in traffic to and from games, cost of parking ect..

And parking, high concessions while leaving the stadium frustrated half the time when your team loses.

NFL football is just better on TV. I can't speak for playoff games, though, as I've yet to attend one.

It probably won't ever get too bad with only 8 games, but I have thought at times the future of the league is half empty stadiums while the masses follow their fantasy team and watch on nicer and nicer TVs at home.

Are the Saints having this issue? Seems like the dome is always rocking.

Lol not buying that

The stadium was half full most games and 50% of those fans were away fans

Skins fans have stayed away in masses

I think this is what created the increase. The attendance overall bottomed out so hard that prices got so low that away fans are actually increasing the overall numbers now.

In addition to the usual flood of Eagles, Cowboys, and Giants fans, the Skins also had the Bears, Pats, and 49ers at home - all large, national fan bases that filled out the lower bowl quite nicely.

As usual, this is tickets sold is in no way indicative of how many people actually attended the games.

But yeah the NFL has a real pricing issue to take a look at in the future.

You can either do expensive premium in person experiences or you can do cheaper pack the stadium experiences. Each have their own issues.

Oddly enough, baseball is going to leading the charge in ways to maintain/increase game attendance.

No they aren’t. The saints averaged 73,082 people per game, and they had 100.1% attendance.

They are still BS numbers

Instead of the usual 70K with maybe 10K away fans for the big fan bases

It was 45K at max with the big away fans bc tickets were so cheap

Getting Skins tickets 10 years ago was hard as shite without paying well over face value

We didn’t sell out one home game this year even with Cowboys and Eagles fans

And this is tickets sold. Far less actually going to the game.

NFL is built around fantasy football, office pools, and gambling.

No one really gives a shite about it, outside of those 3 dealios.

For christs sake, these fricks struggle(10 out of 32 sold out, with tickets sold being counted, not butts in seats) to sell out 8 home games, and the ones that are, nearly 20%+ are fans dressed as seats.

Stadiums will continue to decrease capacities and increase premium seating areas/options.

That’s what happens when 2/3 of the league sucks. Also the LA teams definitely lower average league attendance.

People probably don’t go because the Deadskins are the worst franchise in professional sports. Only close team is the Knicks.
