One of the stupidest rules in the game.

No, because having only league with a dh is now illogical with the Astros in the al. Every team has ten games with different rules. It is stupid to have David Ortiz languish on the bench for ten games or have some jackass like Dioner Navarro get extra at bats cause the cubs do not have a dh.

I won't say watching pitcher's hit is stupid, becuase I do think it's cool when a pitcher hit's a home run. Saw Adam Wainright do that against San Diego a few years ago in my first game at the new Busch stadium.
I don't have one great reason why I'd rather see the DH in both leagues, but a bunch of little ones. But like I said, that's my personal preference.

People in this thread don't want Costas because he's politically liberal, which has nothing to do with baseball. In fact, ironically, he's pretty damn conservative when it comes to baseball. I doubt it's in his nature to be a commish.
It was Costas's idea like 20 years ago to move the Astros to the AL West.

Outside of the double switch (which doesn't really happen all that often anyhow), it doesn't really change anything.

Costas does raise a shitload of money each year for Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St Louis, which is a cause very near and dear to me. So I really don't give a shite about his political leanings.
I may want a bit more of a baseball progressive though in the commissioners chair.

remember, the commish works on the owners' whim

I don't like how the DH rule takes the bat out of the hands of a fielder.

No to Costas - we already have one prick as a commish in the NFL. Don't want both of my favortie pro sports ruled by the morality police.
No to Torre - I actually like Torre. Maybe I'd consider this, but when the shite hits the fan with player bargaining, could he handle it. Will he even want to handle that when he's 75?
No to DH in both leagues - Stop trying to fix things. People say they don't want to see hitters bat, I don't want to call players who can't field baseball players.
NO, NO, NO

I enjoy listening to him call Tuesday night games on MLBN. It's a shame NBC wasn't able to get baseball again. He's a great baseball PBP man.

They will hire a do boy for the owners like selig. They're not going to bring in a dork like costas who has never run a billion dollar business.

Every commish is a prick, not just Goodell. Tags looks better in hindsight, but even he was a prick. Bettman, awful. Stern, not even a question.
I don't think this should be a determining factor.

They have it on every level of play except for the highest level. It just doesn't make sense.

Some puppet on a string will be the next commish.

My vote goes to Brian Kenny...followed by Bob Costas
That's assuming Chipper Jones doesn't want the job.

frick the DH
dumbest thing in baseball
should we stop making poorly hitting second basemen (cough Uggla cough) have to bat just because they're good in the field?
no...frick the DH and frick every proponent of it

I just hope it's someone that isn't outraged by the thought of the DH being in both leagues.
Which reminds me, I was watching little big league on the MLB network this weekend. When he told his friends he was gonna manage the said, "You have the DH, how hard could it be"
