re: ND refusing a bowl game could cost ESPN $30-35M in revenue

Do I think the ACC pressured ESPN to shilling for them to ensure they get a team in the playoffs to preserve their reputation and the minimum $4m payout? Yes.
Do I think that the ACC rep on the committee and ESPN reps contacted the committee members to pressure them to include an ACC team over ND? Also yes.
ESPN just picked up their 2036 option with the ACC this year, they had to defend that decision. At this point the ACC GOR's strength seems tied to that deal, and so if the house of cards falls down ESPN might lose access to teams like Miami (I could see them going to B1G).

Curious how auburn is in the top 10 for most viewed. That surprised me
bc they played a lot of teams that people watch. same reason Florida is in there
basically the eyes were for the other team

That is a bullshite number. ND is not a ratings golden child anymore. They sure do think highly of themselves.

You want people to believe ESPN decided to lose out on the ratings they'd get from having ND in the playoff in order to get a tiny bump in their CFB coverage? Really?
ESPN has a $3.8 billion investment in the ACC's media rights through 2036, which means ESPN has a big time interest in ACC teams being nationally relevant and in contention for championships.
If Notre Dame got in the playoff, then the ACC would have had zero playoff teams.

lol that bowl won’t lose any revenue because of some self righteous numb nuts from northwest Indiana lol

So this is like a plane crashing with only people I hate onboard.
Nice.
Nice.

Notre Dame isn’t the allure that they use to be and they need to realize it. Not even top 10
That's because nobody wants to tune into them beating up a cripple

Obviously the right move to be had here is to have a 13 team college football playoff system where Notre Dame is an automatic entry every season.
Or…hear me out…the committee could maybe not contort itself into absurd illogic and declare the SECCG invalid just to get a 3-loss Bama in.
Posted on 12/8/25 at 5:52 pm to SPEEDY
So you’re saying the committee bent over backwards just to keep Bama, due to viewership. I think that’s also what ND is saying. They didn’t pick the best teams. They picked ESPN’s favorite team.

Everyone hates on ESPN and talks about how they want someone to fight back, but as soon as ND puts their money where their mouth is to fight back, people have a problem with it.
This is the amazing thing on display. ESPN got an undeserving Bama in AGAIN, ND decided to hit back instead of dancing for espn, and people are going apeshit. Especially don’t understand the LSU fans cheering on Bama’s latest welfare gift.

Maybe LSU can get an upgrade?

Because as much as people hate Alabama they play an SEC schedule every single year.
If ND was in a conference then absolutely NONE of this would be happening.
Read between the lines. This is ND getting shafted because of being independent. And its ND fighting to stay independent because they won't get a free spot in a conference.
If ND was in the ACC then we would be on their side. Oh wait! If ND is in a conference we wouldn't have this conversation.
Point.

ND might have easier P4 games but they don’t schedule cupcakes either

Purdue, Stanford, Boston College are brands but they're also cupcakes.

It’s not the committees job to push ND into a conference. It’s also not supposed to be the committees job to reward Bama, but ESPN has it’s favorites.

I’m pulling for ND- I’ll pull for the devil if he’s up against Disney
And I wouldn’t be so sure- Disney has shown massive losses on the media side of their business-

Using your hypo, if ND was in the ACC title game against Duke instead of UVA with their same ranking going into the game and lost the same way UVA did, would you agree they shouldn't have dropped?
Playing 3 more shite ACC teams instead of Purdue, Navy/Boise St, or Arkansas suddenly makes them worthy of their spot?
