ND, in fact, stacks the odds in its favor and demands that everyone allow ND football to single out its "exceptionality," with ND the only University Athletic Director seated on the CFP committee.

However, when judgments don't rule in their favor, they cry baby cry. ND's peers said they didn't meet playoff standards. Shocking! ??

Well good. Go to the big 10, give Penn State to the ACC, and build rivalries with Indiana and Purdue, as well as the other schools close by. Forget those ACC people.

Or go to the ACC... Or the sun belt. Just stop bitching until you actually join a conference.

ND half-way kinda-sorta but not really joining the ACC was always ridiculous.

That have no historic ties with any traditional ACC program..

Geographically and culturally they belong int he Big Ten.

Their schedule is worse than I realized. Sure, they played A&M and Miami up front and lost both, still played USC and Pitt, but then you got Syracuse, BC, Purdue, Arkansas and BC who were all atrocious this year. If they just took one of those games and scheduled with an expected-good team, they would be in. Self inflicted at best.

Sounds like Notre Dame is running out of conferences to free load in.

Their schedule next year is just as bad. They can thank Brian Kelly for the position they’re in in terms of scheduling. That was his initiative.

Fortunately for ND, Freeman is an alpha and wants to schedule more SEC teams. That starts in 2028 I think.

ND is mad at the ACC for looking out for its interest, but also because the ACC violated the terms of their ND contract and fair dealing.

And yet people on this message board are mad at Notre Dame for looking out for its institutional interests? Comically hypocritical.

Should ND be a cuck and just take it?

Bottom tier SEC team for sure, but was getting as much hype as Vandy to start the season.

Of the games they can control they scheduled TAMU (#7), Arky, Boise St (MWC champ and playoff team last season), Navy (every season rival, AP #22), Purdue (rival), and USC (#16).

Not sure what more they could have done with the "OOC" games. No other P4 scheduled Boise, but sure loved to beat up on some FCS and MAC bottom feeders.

They played 2 SEC teams this season, but in 2028 they have 3

But in football you choose to NOT be a partner with the ACC so you can have your own TV contract you don't have to share with anyone else. Football is what drives all of these conference media deals and the ACC is desperate to try to keep pace with the Big 10/SEC. Having ND football as a member of the ACC would help bring more value to the ACC tv contract...but ND doesn't want that. So you understand why the ACC (purportedly) lobbied for a member school to be included in the CFP rather than simply let their "business partner" who doesn't share any of the revenue from its most profitable produce get in.

So the conferences should ignore the money they lose by not having a team in the playoffs because it would hurt ND's in the feels?

Their anger should be directed to the committee not the acc.

So the committee should just ignore Bama having like 4 wins better than any ND win and put ND in bc "they tried to schedule a tad harder but it didn't work out". It's very simple. Just join the ACC. You don't get special treatment because you won a championship 40 years ago.

Being “affiliated” with the ACC carries absolutely no weight. Especially considering half the teams in the ACC do not want to be in the ACC

ND should be mad that ACC football is so bad. All those bad to mediocre ACC teams they played, NC State, Boston College, Pitt, Syracuse, Stanford....did them no favors.

This is how bad the ACC was this year. SMU beat Miami and is the 2nd place team in the ACC. They lost to TCU (9th best in the Big-12) and Baylor (11th best in the Big-12). Pitt who is the 4th best in the ACC lost to WVU (14th best in the Big-12).

I think either BYU or Utah would have rolled the ACC this year, including Miami.
