The NCAA on Monday set the stage for a dramatic restructuring of college sports that will give each of its three divisions the power to govern itself.

The nation’s biggest and most influential governing body in college athletics released a draft of an 18 1/2-page constitution, cut down from 43 pages over the last three months at the direction of President Mark Emmert.

The rewritten constitution focuses more on the NCAA’s broader goals of athlete welfare than the previous version, which took a more granular approach.

Most important, it would provide Division I — the highest level of college sports that includes major college football and the 351 schools eligible for the lucrative men’s basketball tournament — the autonomy to reshape everything from how revenue is shared to how rules are made and enforced.

Will Wade made their arse quit. They realized they can’t get him.

Yep, and I’m curious to know what’s going to happen with…

There’s going to be further splintering between P5 schools, G5 schools, FCS schools, and basketball schools.

Welp, I guess from now on, we’ll only hear about weed suspensions at LSU and nothing else across the country.

I hope his doesn’t frick up the NCAA Tourney. All in all, there’s enough hoops stars that fly under the radar, hit late growth spurts, or have low grades, to fill some of the smaller school lineups. It’s no secret players are getting money to play ball, and it hasn’t prevented smaller schools from doing damage. Hell, last year featured more upsets in early rounds than several other recent tourneys.

The big schools will want to keep the money for themselves but I think the networks will successfully talk them out of an all major tournament.

This is going to be a fun show. NCAA won't take the brunt of bad press anymore. Pull up a chair.

An all major tournament will bring in worse ratings.

No doubt. I would have zero interest in a basketball tournament of P5 teams.

CBS will show the P4 a number and they'll agree very quickly to keep March Madness the way it is.

This is actually good news for football. P4, G6 and upper FCS, and then all the rest of FCS like the Pioneer and SWAC type schools that don't try to compete. 3 divisions.

Hopefully we can convince the G conferences it's in our best interest to have a real playoff and let the P schools do their thing

There has to be something else going on here.

This would be the first time a bunch of useless left wing idiologs have ever voluntarily given up power.

I dont get it

There was nothing stopping them from doing this already

Schools dont have to be a part of the NCAA

All the schools in whatever divisions could have just formed a USACAA or whatever dumb name to govern whatever they wanted to at any time
