Nobody's reading all that. I'm of the opinion that franchise history should revert back to the original city in the event of a name change if the original city receives a new franchise.
I did, in fact, read all of that, and what it says is that your opinion on what ought to happen doesn't matter because legally an NBA franchise's history moves with that franchise, even if it changes name and base of operations. The only way for an expansion franchise to legally claim the history of another franchise that previously operated in the same city is for that previous franchise to voluntarily relinquish it to them - which in this case is what it sounds like OKC will do if a new Seattle team does come into being.

Vegas needs to figure out a way to diversify their economy. Tourism will only do so much and they’re still experiencing a big decline in tourist revenue. Bringing in another sports franchise isn’t going to fix that.

Thank you. I posted long form because it crosses over into all pro sports not just basketball. And its important for folks to understand the differences.
As for OKC, the fans here mostly hate most Seattle fans because Seattle fans were giant pussies when the franchise moved.
Instead of blaming Seattle for not investing in a proper arena and passing a tax they blamed OKC. And to this day their pussy still hurts over it as seen by some of the NBA posters here.
OKC franchise would never use nor want old Sonics history because it would offend their fans. The OKC fans have heard nothing but crying and bitching since this happened. When their anger should be against their own failed city and owner who sold it.
OKC was the easy victim but the citizens denied a tax to improve Key arena then their owner sold it. And guess what, Seattle ended up rebuilding Key arena the only thing left is skeleton. And renamed it Climate Pledge Arena”. So once they get a team back we’ll have a woke named arena in the league.
OKC owners were smart to never use Sonics history no one here cares about those pussies always whining instead of looking in the mirror.
Fun fact related to franchises. Minneapolis Lakers won 5 titles before they moved to LA. Current Lakers claim 12 titles but 5 were from Minneapolis. The current Timberwolves do not get to claim their 5 older titles as they went with franchise). OKC never once claimed the lone Sonics title and will happily give it back.
All the animosity between Seattle and OKC will be great storytelling (ratings) once they do start playing. Can you imagine those games and all the hatred already built up lol. Will be must see TV.
