Sure but how would that help the Lakers create cap space?

This also takes Brooklyn out of free agency this year. There isn't enough money to go around. Think we will see restricted free agents forced to take the qualifying offer and guys like Avery Bradley/Derrick Favors aren't going to have much of a market.

the difference between Mozgov salary this year (17MM) and Howard this year (24MM) gets Charlotte under the tax this year. The price to do that is Mozgov next year at 17MM

otherwise they’d have had to move somebody else and likely have to attach an asset to do it

I feel like these guys would have received huge deals a couple years ago, but will have to settle for MLE deals this off season. Maybe taking one year at the full MLE and testing the market again next season.

I put this in the realgm trade checker and it works.

Ingram, Kuzma, Chandler (expiring), #16 from Phoenix, #25 from Lakers to Spurs

Leonard to Lakers

Lonzo Ball and Deng to Phoenix

for the nets, they get out of 17MM next season, and now only have allen crabbe on the books guaranteed salary for 2019-20, only cost them (2) 2nds and some cash

I still cannot believe that he's willing to leave all that money on the table.

Some are saying that they dont think the super max is on the table.

IF that is true, then maybe this is just a ploy by Kawhi to get that offer from the Spurs by making them think he wants to walk when all he really wants is that super max with no state taxes

I'm really hoping the Suns can get Favors on a really friendly deal. I'd love to somehow end up with a Favors/Ayton frontcourt.

But Kawhi was this guy who just seemed to be so humble and avoided the spotlight. And then the Spurs, always seem to be the perfect organization.

The perfect organization has taken a hit the last 2 offseasons. They had Aldridge wanting to walk last year

I could see Lonzo for 16th pick.

Keep deng.

The big question is going to be how Phoenix values Ball. He’s a pretty divisive prospect.

Favors intrigues me a center for someone like Washington or Milwaukee if all he ends up getting is the MLE

If you are the Lakers, you better be 1000% certain that you are going to be able to sign Lebron and PG13 before you do that deal

The Suns will have about 10 mil when they let Len, Payton and probably Peters walk. If they let Williams walk it'll jump to around 16 and move closer to 20 if you let Ulis, Reed or Harrison go. That might be enough for Favors.

The next year Chandler and Dudley come off the books and they're making about 22 combined. Knight would also have one year left on his deal at that point so you could attach a pick to him and give him to a bad team potentially.

It'll be interesting to see if they make a move for someone like Favors in FA now or if they try to wait and maybe throw a couple max offers next off-season.

Phoenix would be dumb to pay big money to Favors after taking Ayton. He's not very athletic anymore and is essentially a center.

Would the Hornets just stretch Mosgov now? Is there still a big market for Walker and can they include Batum?

Right, you would think it would be a combo deal, but would have to be on the DL due to tampering issues.

There's no point in stretching Mozgov, they'd still be right around the cap. They could have just stretched Dwight to get under the tax but they preferred this.

Nobody is touching that Batum contract right now.

I'll hand it to Boom--he was probably right when he said Timmy was the one holding the locker room together.

I’ve always been the one here who had my finger on the pulse of the spurs more than any other poster.
