Givony's most recent mock had Trae falling to 12. There's no way McDonough doesn't trade up if he slides past 10 IMO. Unless he's got a good deal for Kemba on the table.

I’m assuming Brooklyn is sending more draft assets or something. Otherwise it makes no sense. I don’t think they’re up against the tax or anything where it would make sense to cut money for this year.
Or they just don’t really don’t want Dwight around the team anymore

I don't understand the point in this trade. Why would Charlotte take on more long term dollars?
32.7 over two years versus 23.8 for one year. Doesn't make sense to me to add 16.7 mil in cap next season for only 2 seconds.

They are up against the tax line, but I would think there are better ways to duck under the tax than this.

Thats what Im trying to figure out.

Yeah I would think you could get a better deal for Dwight. My god Charlotte has some terrible contracts though

Wow, I totally forgot about that. Deng made a dumb decision then if he went there for basketball reasons.

No one else was offering him anything close to 4yrs/$72 million like LA did

Forcing a salary floor makes teams that can't get the top guys give out inflated deals.
That said, guys like Deng and Mozgov don't have to get 4 years deals. The duration of the deals is what makes them bad.

Yes they do, and they are paying their best player 12 mil
I would think they could have just given Lamb and a second to someone with cap space for a fake second or something. He's only getting paid 7 mil.

Yeah true. I was trying to find reason on this deal but it’s pretty bad. Hilarious that it’s Mozgov too

Im guessing Jordan can't stand Dwight and they're avoiding the luxury tax.

The only punishment for not reaching the salary floor is that you have to divide the remaining amount that you are below the salary floor among your signed players. Unless I'm missing something. You could also just do that the Sixers would do and just give out inflated deals, but those deals were only for one season. I.e. Redick making 23 mil this past season.

This has probably given me false hope that maybe, just mayyyybe, Deng won’t be as hard to move as previously expected.
Or maybe Mitch is just senile

This is true, but it doesn’t force them to give out like 5 inflated deals and be up against the luxury tax

Given Pop's red arse approach I don't see anyway he trades KL to the Lakers, help a rival and accommodate a cry baby? Not happening, he'll trade him to the east for the best deal he can or tell him to report next year and play him until at least the trade deadline and then see if he can move him to the east.

It's a bad sign for the Lakers moving Deng. Atlanta is the only team now I can see taking Deng on.

But, it also takes away a potential landing place for Deng.

But maybe a team with a big expiring could be interested in taking on Deng if it nets them Ball or Kuzma. Maybe Phoenix with Tyson Chandler possibly since they have been rumored to have interest in a 3 team with LA and San Antonio
