I am sure I’ve had plenty of shitting on Westbrook post but whatever, he is still fun to watch and a lot better than Paul at this point.

To the Thunder, it doesn’t really matter if you have Westbrook or Paul, you aren’t going anywhere. You might as well take the shorter deal and the 2 picks and 2 swaps.
And since Houston is in win now mode, having a similarly productive player, who can play more minutes is a benefit to them. Not to mention, maybe what Westbrook brings to the table could give them something they were missing. It's a risk, but the risk is both on the upside and downside, so maybe it's worth the downside risk.
And for OKC it definitely makes sense if they are in a rebuild mode. They get a shorter contract AND a couple of future first round picks. I don't see how it doesn't make sense for them.

I can’t shite on boom for that, because I wasn’t sure that the Thunder were going to get assets for Westbrook. But, are the Rockets sending assets to get Westbrook or to get off of Paul?
