I honestly think that dude might be slightly on the spectrum.
He just does not care about the way things are done now at all. He doesn't care that other people are signing and no one takes meetings anymore.
He wants to have meetings because I really feel like he doesn't know what he wants to do and needs the programming.

Teams like the Suns who are young/terrible and not in premium markets are kind of locked into a vicious cycle when it comes to free agency when they’re trying to make the “jump” to contention. You’re not getting a sure fire max guy, you’re having to project a young guy who might make the leap like Russell. You’re not getting a decent veteran point guard on a “fair” deal, you’re paying 17m per for him.
I would argue they should have just used the cap to facilitate trades and get more assets like the Hawks but the Hawks rebuild is pretty fresh compared to Phoenix. But for the most part teams like them just aren’t going to find deals for good players that look good on the surface at the time
