The idea the Lakers were going to scoop up starting-quality players at the league minimum was absolutely silly with how much cap space was open in the league this year. Average players are going to continue to be overpaid on multi-year deals.

Yeah and the teams that weren't burned by 2016 will be the ones to do it.

The Knicks sitting there with 60+ mill in space and no big signing is saddening though. They bout to give Julius randle 30 a year

They have to get to $98 million somehow.

Every bad thing that happens to the Lakers is good for the Pelicans. I'll laugh at that shitty organization at every turn.

I’m not a Lakers fan or a Pelicans fan but it’s really funny to hear Pels fans calling the Lakers a shitty organization.

The Lakers are a year removed from signing the best player in the game, weeks removed from obtaining the best 1-2 duo in the NBA. They’ve won 5 titles since 2000.

And on the other hand you have New Orleans. They had at two separate occasions, mega NBA superstars- guys who were top 5 players in the league, yet they could never surround them with a team capable of winning. Both players wanted out, now they will probably go through the same song and dance with the next generational talent they lucked into.

ETA: I actually hate the Lakers. But I’m not blinded by that hatred into making ludicrous and patently false claims about them.

All fair points, and not many will back the old Pels regime...but even that shitty old Pels regime put together a better squad over the past 8 seasons than the Lakers did.

I've never understood this argument. You can enjoy how publicly and poorly run the Lakers are while acknowledging how bad Pels org WAS run. We've legit turned a corner as a franchise and have a bright future.

We have draft picks that get better with the Lakers failing. It's as simple as that

Rozier got 3/58. That's by far the winner.
